Another refund

I think that this the 8th year that I've used TurboTax and I've never had so much trouble stating. Open folder to view files, then what? I had to try 5 files before I came across setup
What's great about it: inexpensive compared to a CPA
What's not so great: Had trouble starting.

Alabama Paper file wrong

I've used for years. It has improved considerably since the dark ages. For the first time ever, I was unable to file my tax.
My Federal was approved within an hour of submission.
But my Al state forms were printed out as a mixture of electronic and paper forms. I NEED HELP.

DELAYS IN UPDATES WERE UNTENABLE!

TURBOtAX NOT READY FOR USE FOR FILING AS UPDATES WERE MADE BUT YET THE UPDATES COULDN'T BE DOWNLOADED! THIS COST ME ALMOST 2 WEEKS BEFORE I COULD FILE. POOR TESTING OF YOUR SOFTWARE AND UPDATES.
What's not so great: Software not ready in time for tax filing. Error check did not find the error
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

Good Stuff

I'm a long time Turbo Tax user and plan to keep the tradition alive next year. Everyone should do their own taxes and Turbo Tax makes it easy.
What's great about it: Switching between Forms & Step-by-step instructions very easy
What's not so great: Paying for state e-file

Easy to use

On the whole, I thought this product did an excellent job. I provided a con, but it is more of a suggestion than a con.
What's great about it: The walk through covered everything I needed in an easy format
What's not so great: It would be nice to have more detail on how the rules for the deductions work available

First Time Turbo Tax User

I am actually very happy with this experience. My husband and I have been married for 10 years and have always hired someone else to do our taxes due to the fact that we never felt fully equipped to do the paper work to file our own taxes. My husband is clergy, as well as in the United States Army, and I was a teacher and we had complicated deductions. Last year, Liberty Tax completely messed up our taxes, shorted us money, and charged an outrageous amount. The IRS even had to correct mistakes that Liberty Tax made. My husband I pride ourselves in having excellent credit and a clear bill with the IRS, so we were extremely frustrated with the careless mistakes Liberty Tax made. This year we decided to try it ourselves and it was a huge success! It was very easy and not at all as complicated as we thought doing our own taxes would be. Makes me wish we would have used TurboTax a long time ago!
What's great about it: Very easy! I was able to file taxes while my kids ran around! That's multi-tasking!

Won't Use Anything Else!

Have used this software since its inception with advent of wide PC use in mid 1980s. Like its general overall consistency from year to year, and especially import feature of all information from previous year. Believe it the best option to complete one's taxes. In the past the program has identified forms I was not aware of, and provided additional refunds. As tax codes become more complicated, the software keeps pace. However, found it more complicated this year to enter a single line for short and long term capital gains/losses as per investment summary and reference back to attached brokerage house print-out for multiple trades of minor amounts. (It would take many hours to enter these minor trades individually by no. of shares and dates.) Should be an easier way to do this on Schedule D worksheet. Hence 4 rather than 5 stars. Still the best, for novice or tax accountant.
What's great about it: Covers everything, identifies proper forms, allows for easy step or direct to forms, imports last year's information
What's not so great: A litle difficulty to append brokerage transaction forms
Pros: I bought or sold investments
