Disappointing & error-filled

About 75% of the data that should have been displayed from my 2012 return was either blank or on the wrong line. This is new as I haven't experienced it before. The Iowa state return was bug-ridden and not properly updated until late March with changes known before January 1. In one area, interest, one got into a continuous error loop where there was no error. I found a work-around that TurboTax support hadn't figured out. Web showed numerous complaints on this. TurboTax still hasn't fixed issue of many years where data (e.g. interest & dividends) in lists that are carried forward from other areas are randomly displayed on various lines with many blank lines. Unless one knows enough to scroll down and look, it will appear that data didn't transfer so one may duplicate it by entering again. Have had to file amended returns in past years to correct duplications after I discovered this. Quality control and attention to particularly state changes are poor.
What's great about it: Finally got it to work
What's not so great: Bug ridden, didn't carry forward much of 2012 return data

Difficulties with TurboTax 2013 and Windows 8

I love Turbotax and have been using it for well over 20 years.
This is the first year I've had a bad experience with the product and it was with the updates which would never install without some bothersome workarounds. Basically I had to remove Windows .NET 3.x from my system reboot , run Turbotax update, then reinstall .NET 3.x (since I had other programs depending on it) and then reboot again. This had to be done every time there was a Turbotax update which was 5-6 times so far. I filed early just to avoid having to encounter this issue again. I hope Intuit can do some better compatibility testing because I don't think I can put up with this again next year.

Tech Support was Super!!!

I called 800-797-4625 for Tech Support and was connected with Sabrina in Colorado. My problem was that when I downloaded my California state return, it would cause the entire TurboTax application to crash. Sabrina spent almost an hour with me helping me delete previous versions of files and sending me replacement files (that worked). And everything was completed after the call in a matter of minutes.
I don't think I've ever spoken with a Tech Support person for any company who was as pleasant and knowledgeable as she is.
Thank you, Sabrina. You should get 6 stars!

Each year it gets easier to use Turbo Tax. I like that the previous year is already loaded into the program and gives a comparison. This year however, when I entered the pension 1099R that I received it told me that I was required to make a RMD. As I receive this payment monthly and it is all taxable, I am not required to do this. My husband died in 2011 and this is the pension that I receive. There is no lump sum to take a RMD from.
What's great about it: Ease of use
What's not so great: I don't agree with all your assumptions
Pros: I moved, I bought or sold investments

Refund With Turbo Tax

Turbo Tax is very easy to use, walks you through the minefield of taxes, exceptions, and credits. Double checks and explains. Also, trans all your tax data to state file, making state taxes quicker to finish. Like the E-file options at the end. Will recommend to friends! Thanks for a great program!

What's not so great: Only Fed efile w/ program, needed to purchase the state file
