Very easy to do, answers most questions and will allow you to go back and change info.
What's great about it: walked us through everything
What's not so great: State e-filing is too pricey

TurboTax Federal & State Returns plus Fed E-file
on March 25, 2014

I recommend Turbo Tax as an on-going tax program. It was easy to follow, showed me ways to save money and relatively easy to complete. I feel confident checking my returns for errors and probabilities of getting an audit.
What's great about it: Easy to continue form 2012's return.
What's not so great: Some of the areas are confusing to the average person but are probably clearer on more comprehensive editions.
Pros: I moved

A non-taxing afternoon!
on March 25, 2014

I bought the Deluxe version and it was just right for my purposes; I have nothing complicated but I found 98% of the answers to all my "what-if" questions. I have to say that it was a pleasant afternoon doing my yearly responsibility. The only downside I experienced was getting answers to questions quickly online - the search engine is a bit hard to use. But the bottom line is that Turbo Tax is still the easiest to use for me.
What's great about it: Ease of use and eliminates frustration
What's not so great: The prior versions had more tax detail and explanations

pretty good

pretty good, self explanatory. user friendly
would be nice if there was an option like print preview BEFORE one is ready to print. If you are anywhere in the process print preview can help you see how far along you are and to go back to a question you want to revisit BUT don't recall the category
What's great about it: you can get explanations for things and call for help
What's not so great: can't print screens (ie if there's something you'd like more explanation and wont have screen available when u call.
Pros: I had a baby

Verify for correct tax withheld on 1099-R
on March 25, 2014
Posted by: JimboGuy
When the tax withheld is known to be 10% on IRA RMD withdrawn amounts, please do a check to see if it is really 10%, as I made a mistake and entered an amount that was less than 10%, and might not have caught it on my own, which I was fortunate enough to catch this time. Even if amount is not predefined to be 10%, just ask the question : Did you intend to record a 10% tax withheld amount , as the number you entered is differrent from 10%? Also some Mutual Funds do not have a sales fee for withdrawn amounts, so there is no need to keep asking for a sales fee entry if none was charged.

Another great year in the books
on March 25, 2014

Another great year, only one issue it didn't review my state return until I went back and did it. It made a bad assumption that it was all done and I still had two significant state tax deductions to input.
What's great about it: simplicity
What's not so great: tried to skip over my state deductions
