Ah, so close...

TurboTax (TT) is generally very useful and saves a lot of time and angst. However, almost every year there is something that does not work right and there is no prior indication of that gap. I routinely do a detailed check of the return before filing. In short, since most of the return is completed via detailed steps, it is not obvious when TT is NOT following the steps. So, the best way to use TT is to 'trust but verify' - this will save additional time & angst. As an aside, the product is far superior to the qualilty of telephone assistance - so, self-help may be necessary for successful completion.
What's great about it: Takes most of the tax prep & filing headaches away.
What's not so great: Always has some issue, so complete trust is not recommended.

Better Every Year

I have been using TurboTax for so long I can't remember when I started. Each year you have gotten better, fixed problem areas and maintained customer satisfaction. When we moved from VA to CO in 1997 there was a problem with the part year stuff, because I came out in Jan. and my husband came out in May. But your techs helped me resolve it quickly. When we owned a business TurboTax was there all year to help us with everything. I would not use any other tax software - EVER.
What's great about it: Improvements to interactive questions
What's not so great: Didn't find any this year, except when you told me I didn't qualify

Easy Peasy

I have always done my own taxes. For the past 5 years I have used TT. TT has taken the headache out of understanding all the new tax laws, do's and don'ts. It makes itemizing deductions so much easier. I will never go back to figuring out my taxes without Turbo Tax!!
What's great about it: step by step instructions
What's not so great: would like more help/explanations with retirement accts

Quick and relatively painless way to complete taxes! Have used TurboTax for the past 9 years and very please with the ease of use.

confused mail print out

all well until the end. since disabled dependent had no income other than ssa-1099 we could not file federal electronically. then when you go to print, the instructions are incomplete and leave you wondering why you don't get 2 copies, one to mail, one to keep. why couldn't we efile? we paid for the program...we should be able to efile the federal form.

What's not so great: file by mail printouts confusing/ incomplete

Easy, easy, easy!!!

I worked on my taxes a little at a time over a few weeks. It was simple to pick back up where I left off. I felt like it did a thorough job on my taxes as well. I loved how it walked me through my business expenses and deductions.
What's great about it: Walked me through it all!
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments
