Consistent and detailed

Turbo tax is a great self preparing program. From the person who has never done their own taxes to the professional who has done it themselves for years. It allows you to be guided through step by step or skip ahead and do it yourself. The best thing is with current and up to date tax laws it prevents you from overlooking anything or making any critical mistakes. Plus you can do it from home. So if you forgot that one receipt or have to go grab a document you can. When you sit it an office and forget something you either have to reschedule or skip it. I have used turbo tax for years and will continue to do so.
What's great about it: Turbo tax is extremely easy to use and detailed.
What's not so great: Purchasing and downloading online was slow and had to purchase actual disc in store
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Easy enough to use, but I had trouble seeing where my addition of sale tax on a new vehicle actually helped with my refund. It would help if they had a way to talk with them online as you worked with their software. Maybe it's there and I just didn't see it.
What's great about it: Easy enough to use for most people.
What's not so great: Would appreciate online help for some basic software related questions.

I've been using Turbotax for the past 5 years with no audits. I love the way that it helps you maximize your returns through itemization and error checks.

Smooth as silk until time to E File state return for IL. Nice error message but no help in correcting the problem. Problem was solved after many hours of digging through and editing 1099"s that did not apply to our return. Not sure we will be with the "TurboTax" team next year.

Why change a great thing?

Far more difficult to use than prior releases. While the concept is the same, far too much entry is now required. With previous releases I still entered all my payor data so I could be in control. Issue now is the you no longer populate the data within the Fereral nor state files.
What's great about it: Entries carry over year to year. Saves much time.
What's not so great: Not nearly as easy to use as prior releases. Why change it?

More explaination needed

There wasn't alot of information on certain topics. I tried to ask community questions and even there I found no answers. Very frustrating and confusing. Beginning to think this is not for the layman any more.
