Form 1040 showed line 72 as me entitled to a refund of $5242. Line 74a showed that I wanted $5228 refunded to me. I think the program calculated this lessor amount, but I don't know how or why the program did this. It did not ell me why it was different than line 72. I would really have want it all refunded. The "errorcheck" said I had no errors, but something is wrong. I filed anyway, but still wonder if you have a programming error. This is the first ime this happenned in th eyears I've used T.Tax. Also, I wish you had people availbale to chat with us when we have a program issue. I do not like trying to find an answer in your list of thousands. I am never able to find the answer there. and it is very,very time consuming.
What's great about it: relatively easy to use
What's not so great: I could not find where the program was getting the basis for for their calculation at times.

20+ years of Turbo Tax

I have been using TT for a long time and am very comfortable with it. As I begin to get earnings from my retirement accounts, I need more help in dealing with capital gains and losses, partnership income etc. I would like TT to provide more explicit information and guidance on these topics rather than referring me to other locations.
What's great about it: Efficient, good processes
What's not so great: Not explicit enough for more complex returns

Long for Better Printing Methods

Needs better printing options. Ex: Printing electronic filing info, printing individual return pages can all be improved and simplified.
Needs simpler viewing options, so you can zip to a page or line faster.
What's great about it: Great overall tax computation program; nice efile options
What's not so great: limited printing and viewing options

1st Time User

As a first time user I found TurboTax fairly easy to use and really got detailed in finding deductions. Unfortunately the desktop version I got needed "updates" but didn't say how to get them. It should have been part of the stat up process rather than having to search through the previously asked questions. In Florida we do not have personal income tax so filing is not necessary. Turbo Tax knows that but still wants to file a return - you have to keep saying "no thanks".
What's great about it: Very Detailed
What's not so great: Desktop version needed updates

In past years the Turbo Tax program interacted with past returns and filled in the normally unchanging information. But not this year. It seemed to have no idea of past information in the computer and I had to enter every line again. In some ways it was easier, the different sections income, deductions etc seemed to flow better so could be it was a wash but wasn't expecting the redundant information to have to be reentered, kinda through me off.
What's great about it: It seemed like it was a little easier to go through the process, in some ways.
What's not so great: To much entering information that does not normally change

Been using MacInTax since its in inception and Turbo Tax has evolved to the superior product that it is today. In addition, the support staff are friendly and very helpful.
What's great about it: Staightforward, thorough and FAST!
What's not so great: What? It's taxes!
