I have used TurboTax for a number of years. Each year seems to be improved with instructions and/or process. If one knows that the standard deduction will be used instead of itemized deductions, is it possible to by-pass the many steps needed for itemized deductions. (I think I read that only about 25% of taxpayers take itemized deductions.)
What's great about it: Instructions and forms generally easy to follow.
What's not so great: Had royalty income; hard to understand 'at risk' even with profit

Fast and Refunded...

If you have a relatively easy tax situation this is the software for you. I've been using it for years and feel confident that we are filing correctly.
What's great about it: Since our refund is relatively easy but with a few deductions...this software is perfect for us.
What's not so great: Sometimes I do think I might be missing out on a deduction or benefit that might help...

The Best Keeps Getting Better

This is my third year using TurboTax and my experience continues to get better. The software is EXTREMELY easy to read and understand, which allows me to complete my tax filing quickly. I LOVE this product!
What's great about it: Guided process; easy to read and understand; comprehensive
What's not so great: None that I would attribute to the software
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Wow, what a refund!

I've used a professional CPA for years because of the complexity of my return with additional income and alimony...
Already tried a rival tax program and it didn't walk me through the steps to fill in my college student's information. I felt like it was missing the boat with the paperwork I had in front of me.
Then a friend told me to try Turbo Tax and that it specifically would guide me through the 1099's, 1098T and 1098E.

What's great about it: Really walked me thorugh my college student's 1098T
What's not so great: can't believe it's true!

I LOVE TURBO TAX. I HAVE USED IT FOR MANY YEARS BECAUSE IT'S EASY TO USE AND I'VE LEARNED ABOUT DEDUCTIONS I NEVER KNEW I COULD USE.

Easy File

fairly easy to use and follow instructions. It would be helpful to show last year's amount right beside this year as you enter each item in addition to the summery page. I don't often remember what was different for year to year and this would be helpful to ensure I didn't miss something.
What's great about it: easy to follow instructions for the most part
What's not so great: had trouble with a simple 1099-misc getting the right info into the right spot to record simple amount
