Not as good as previous years

I don't know what happened to Turbo tax this year, but it was not as easy to use as prior years. In particular, tried to use the back button, and got lost in the return, I couldn't go back and get to the item I wanted to update. I actually had to delete that return and start over just to stay in the guided process. My other concern was that the section on HSA was NOT clear at all. The program actually told me to remember something for it in respect to HSA? That's crazy! I expect that the software would do that. I don't know what was done to screw up the guided preparation that worked so well in previous years, but I encourage you to get that feature back to the way it was. After all, that's the reason I've been buying and using the program!
What's great about it: Still helped me get through filing process
What's not so great: The step by step or guided process missed things

Everything was easy to follow. Step by step process is quick, too. I like the error check process and ease of efiling.
What's great about it: Guides you through each step.
What's not so great: Nothing.
Pros: I moved

Taxes Hold 'em - I'm all in

In terms of ease of use, TT gets a 10 (out of 10). I hate doing taxes, but the software smoothly guides you through it. The program handles just about anything you can throw at it, and the answers seem to be there.
In terms of speed, it's a whiz. TT gets a 10. Not much more to say about this.
In terms of help, I think TT has become a little too detached from the user...the pop-ups seem to be a paraphrased, watered-down explanation of the IRS verbiage. I would have liked to have seen some more useful scenarios for even the simplest line in the forms. TT gets a 7. Prior years, I think had some better explanations.
In terms of error-checking, TT gets another 10. Fast, easy, accurate. It found a 1 cent difference between the gross income and the taxable income, and it pulled up the state form and highlighted the line that had the "discrepancy". I fixed the 1 cent difference and all was well with the world.
In terms of final wrap-up, the behind-the-scenes checking was fast and efficient. 10 once again. I love the "likelihood of audit" scale that displays.
And finally, the filing and printing part - gets a 10, once again. Easy peezy for the e-filing. And the three levels of printing give you the option to kill a tree, only mangle it, or just peel some bark. The greenest option is to save the tax returns as a pdf for all-year-round availability on your "green" screen.
Overall rating, 9.8.
What's great about it: Very easy to navigate, all the right questions are asked.
What's not so great: Some of the TT help pop-ups were too IRS'y. I really like the small videos that TT once had.

Math makes my head hurt...

I would love it if I were able to do math inside of the turbo tax cells, or better yet be able to tell turbo tax that a joint account is being used when trying to file married separately and have it do the math for me!

Pretty Good Package

The transfer of data from last year was seamless and accurate. Entry of data via interview was easy and shortened from previous years. All my possible deductions (and ones I anticipate using in the future) are covered. I continue to be frustrated with the charity deduction -- which requires me to enter information on all my line items -- almost 100 charities! IRS only requires one line for the total! In previous years after they started this requirement, I filed pdf versions by mail to avoid the problem. This year I used their online deduction storage to enter all of the items (uggh) but I am not sure I will do it again in the future. In other parts of the return, clicking to find the source of a calculated number often did not send me to the right place or made it almost impossible to find the original data entry that triggered the numbers! In the few cases where I sought help, the popup help files were nearly useless for me. For the most part, however, I was pleased with the ease of switching between forms and interview and liked the streamlined interview process this year. Filing was pretty straightforward but the process did make me repeat the entire entry process several times (e.g. after it forced an update, and after I paid for the state filing) before I finally filed. This was the first year that I was satisfied enough with the MA return to allow an efile (instead of a modified manual version by mail). I have listed lots of issues in this review but still consider TurboTax to be pretty good and intend to return to it next year.
What's great about it: Thorough interview process, covers all my deductions, easy to jump from forms to interview and back
What's not so great: Help responses poor, charity entry made me enter ~100 separate items instead of 1, click on source often didn't work
