2013 Federal Tax TurboTax Review

TN state and cty sales tax is wrong. There is no one to call to discuss this issue without paying additional expense.
What's great about it: as with previous years fairly straight forward and easy to follow
What's not so great: The TN state and Davidson Cty sales tax calculations were incorrect and i went to the IRS pub and used their calculator
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

E-filing

With the requirements becoming stricter of the Federal and State wanted you to e-file your returns I don't feel that 5 is sufficient enough. You need to increase how many you can fiIe when you make the purchase of TurboTax. I am not able to do my immediate family (meaning my children) without having to enter them on another site where I can submit theirs for free.
What's great about it: Turbo is a great program. For the most part is extremely to use!
What's not so great: There should not be a limit on how many you can e-file. If I make the purchase I should be able to e-file my children's

Easy Does It!

I really like the year to year transfer of information - both personal and tax related.
It is also very helpful to have this data transferred automatically to my state income tax filing.
Love the e-file feature for both Federal and State.
What's great about it: Very easy to guide myself through the tax forms needed
What's not so great: Having to pay to e-file for state - should be included.

Disappointed

I purchased the "Deluxe" CD version this year, intending to do a little "what if" scenarios by creating several different filing versions - for my analysis.
The software "crashed" when moving from the federal return to my Ohio return. TurboTax support people were helpful on the telephone and after some delay, I was able to continue with my returns.
However, when it came time to e-file, the program kept telling me to "download additional updates" and that the e-filing would not transmit. After several "updates' and attempts to e-file, I gave up and filed via postal mail.

Another Year with Installation Issues

This is the third year that i received error message while trying to load the software from CD on my Windows XP machine. Thankfully i was able to obtain the help i needed to get the software loaded from others who provided internet entries relating to my installation problems. No more Turbotax for me as i don't need the headaches to research the error issues and implement the solutions.
What's great about it: program perfomed calculations
What's not so great: difficulty with installation

Ease of use

Using the software takes away laborious effort and most of the stress when preparing your taxes. It also reminds you which forms you need available on hand when you're on a particular topic.
And pre-populating items related to the prior year's return is simply a great time-saver.
What's great about it: Has comprehensive examples to illustrate topic. Automatically imports pertinent figures from previuos year's return.
What's not so great: Could use more examples for other related concepts in the same topic
