Another mess you got me out of

I don't see how anyone continues to do taxes manually. Compared to my neighbor with similar tax requirements who insists on manual tax preparation, I have twice the forms prepared in one tenth of the time.
I use Quicken to help track the data required for most input especially deductions. The tax summary from Quicken saves me a bunch of time.
Another bonus is the program "It's Deductable". It's easy to fill in and great to transfer to the Turbotax program.
I used to pay $2-300 for tax preparation and about ten years ago found I got better results with this program.
What's great about it: Carryover from previous years getting all the Fed, State and local in one package
What's not so great: Paying for the State efiling

Surprise

In general good, but I do not like the grammar of the questions. The questions should also be in bold print just before the answer click. One discovers surprise conclusions from Turbo that one did not anticipate. It is difficult to review one's work without having to re-answer each question.
What's great about it: calculations
What's not so great: Surprise

Screwed Up E-File
on March 20, 2014

E-filed federal return. Was rejected because " SS numbers were wrong". Turbo Tax answer was to call Social Security and confirm numbers. I have the original SS cards and the numbers were the same as I have used for 63 years of tax filing. Refiled...same result...same advice from Turbo Tax. Finally filed via snail mail. Would hope beeter advice and help in place by next year. A phone number to talk to live person would help.
What's great about it: Fast calculations....
What's not so great: Poor back-up

Have used Turbo tax for many years. Made filing easy for my kids who filed for first time. They didn't have a clue how taxes worked until using turbo tax. They now have a basic understanding of taxes
What's great about it: Easy to use
What's not so great: Charge for state electronic filing
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments
