Turbo Tax, Works Every Time
on March 19, 2014

I like Turbo Tax Deluxe. It's easy to use and gets the job done.
I bought the Federal Only because I want to only file the Federal with the software. I really don't need a lot of "Don't forget to download the state return" "We can transfer everything over to the state return easily"
I don't need it, didn't want it, that's why I bought this edition.
See you next year!
What's great about it: Ease of use
What's not so great: Upgrade to this, buy that

TurboTax easy again

I can do taxes on my own, did so for over 30 years. But, it is so much easier with TurboTax. just answer the questions, it will do the hard part for you. Takes me about an hour from start to finish.
What's great about it: Easy to use, just follow the directions as it leads you through the tax process.
What's not so great: Would like to be able to jump to a finished version anytime within the process.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

Fast and Accurate

I did not see the form that replaced TD F 90-22.1.
Form 8938 was checked just for the first page. I was expecting to see all other copies but they were not automatically checked for errors and I had to change the view to forms and do it myself. Other than that everything was very well organized and easy to complete.
What's great about it: Comprehensive and Easy to Understand
What's not so great: Not sure if all forms I need for the IRS other than for the purpose of this filing are included

Easier than before

I've used Turbo tax in the past. What made me want to write this review, was the fact that I retired early this past year and I didn't have much income. Turbo tax works so well with my deductions, I didn't have to worry about a thing. With Turbo tax, I was able to import my W2, and I received a good refund for both federal and state. I've seen other products on the market, but I trust the Turbo tax.
What's great about it: the check entry feature
What's not so great: Nothing
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Direct Import & Carry Over
on March 19, 2014

Deciphering a combined 1099 annual statement with multiple types of investments (stocks, bonds, taxable and non-taxable bonds and dividends, for federal, state and local governments, commercial paper, including tracking of cost basis and long vs short term gain or loss can be a nightmare. However, the direct import function on TurboTax made this PAINLESS! All you need is your financial website's login information (I had Edward Jones and USAA imports), and the information is automatically, quickly imported with no chance for human (my) error! This was wonderful!
What's great about it: Eliminates hours of tedious and error-prone work
What's not so great: none
