I itemized my State tax and Schedule A (Form 1040) was attached. Pursuant to Item 17, Gifts to Charity, Schedule A(Form 1040) it directs... "You must attach Form 8283 if over $500" while clearly showing that my deduction was $610.
No Form 8283 printed out nor was there any other reference to this.
This appeared to be a Turbo Tax programming error.
What's great about it: It was structured well, and comprehensive and quick
What's not so great: Program error

I have been using TurboTax since the product has been available. It has never failed me and has always been complete and thorough. I haven't always gotten a refund but in most cases I feel that TurboTax kept my tax responsibility to a minimum. Every year the process seems more refined and helpful and I am confident that TurboTax is in my corner working for my benefit. Keep up the good work.
What's great about it: Clear instructions, plenty of help
What's not so great: None
Pros: I moved

I have used turbo tax for years with "married filing jointly” status. I moved to Florida last year for work and my wife has not followed yet. This required us to file separate state returns. I assumes we would file joint federal and separate state. The turbo tax recommendation was to set up three separate file: a joint file for federal taxes and two separate files for the state. This required me to enter all of the data twice. Additionally, I discovered we would receive a much higher refund filing separate federal returns as well. It would have been nice to put the data in once and have the tax package recommend the best refund.
What's great about it: with some research i was able to get things correct
What's not so great: "married filing separately" was complicated but was the best refund
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I moved

E-Z TAX PREP PRO

After collecting all information, it was easy to fly through the forms! Outside of Turbo-tax control were the huge fees for electronic payment for State returns (filing fee, account transfer fee, etc.) Since I am in no dire need of the return funds immediately, I quickly backed out of electronic filing and into paper filing for this year! No fees there, except for postage!
What's great about it: Less than 30 min Prep time
What's not so great: None

I loved my experience with TurboTax until I got to the section for e-filing. After I paid the fee to file my state return, I got a message telling me that I was filing a duplicate return and would have to amend my return and mail it in. I was very disappointed in this aspect, and I'm really not sure if my return went in or not. I'm waiting to see if I get an email confirmation that the state has received my return before I mail a return in. Totally confusing!
