Turbo Tax Review

Although I was unable to secure a refund, largely because I no longer can claim as many deductions as when I was working full-time, I found TurboTax te be very helpful.
What's great about it: Having all of the necessary forms readily available
What's not so great: None that I am currently aware of

Distilling the complex

The product continues to become streamlined and easier to work with, particularly with options to download investment documents from brokers. It takes some trust that the program is not overlooking things, but consistent smooth use of the product over a number of years has instilled that confidencxe.
What's great about it: Handles the complicated details.
What's not so great: I was unsure that investment details were executed until completion.

Without Turbo Tax I would not be able to do my own taxes, and for that I am grateful. However, I found this year's format to be a little harder to handle. Especially in going back to make corrections. Not corrections discovered by Turbo Tax, but by me. I have used Turbo Tax since 2004.

Things worked, but slower this year.

The state sales tax forms would not work in February, I had to wait till Mid March to get them to work. Even though I bought the deluxe edition they wanted charge me for the for an upgrade to do my state return. I kept getting an error on box 14 my wife's w-2 because It kept telling me to select other from the drop down list, when the correct selection was blank for electronic filing it took me awhile to figure it out.
What's great about it: I worked just like it did for the last 10 years, No real learning curve
What's not so great: Some of the forms were not ready in Februrary.

GOOD AND EASY WAY TO FILE MY REFUND

EXCELLENT SOFTWARE, EASY TO USED, AND I SAVED AT LOT OF MONEY PAYING SOMEBODY DOING MY TAX RETURN.AND SAVED MY TIME GOING TO TAX SERVICE.

Over all, very easy to use.

What's not so great: Kept asking to do State Return - I live in Texas where we don't have State Income Taxes
