Ease of use

Very user friendly. Help topics were clear and helpful. The update software feature should be moved back to the beginning. I didn't see it until I went to check the returns.
What's great about it: Very user friendly
What's not so great: I didn't like the update software at the end. It was more effective when it was done each time the program started up.

A few helpful tips

1. This year I chose to skip around to the various sections I knew were relevant to me instead of having TurboTax lead me though all the sections. When I tried to enter information for the part on dependent care expenses I went right to that sections and started entering the relevant information. When I was finished I got an error message say something to the effect that 'I had no qualifying dependents' I went back and review the personal information for my dependents #which turbo tax remembered from last year# and found nothing was wrong. I repeated the process several times, each time getting the same error. My wife then poked around #I'm not sure quite what she did# and found the section where I enter in the dollar value of my expense for each child #I believe this may have bypassed this by skipping to the different sections# Once I entered the $ amounts the software accepted the credit. Two things to change: 1# make sure someone skipping to the dependent care expense section will see this screen where you enter the $ amounts you are claiming and that there is no way this could be accidently bypassed. 2# change the error message #cited above# It sounds like there is something wrong with the personal information I provided on my dependents when the real problem was that I missed the screen where I was supposed to enter the $ amount I'm claiming in child expenses.
The second thing I found confusing was that the software did not subtract the amount I entered for my dependent care flex spending account #from my W2# from the total amount I spent for childcare. My understanding is that I'm supposed to enter the total amount and then subtract the amount in my dep. care flex spending account and then #in my case# the credit is 20% of that difference. I did not see where this was done and am left to assume that it was done. Show the user that this is what is being done. Am I wrong here??
Ohterwise...its a great product.
Cheers, tp
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Once again, our Turbo Tax experience was positive. The step-by-step approach helps us to identify and enter data. The review and check system gives added assurance that all was done correctly.
What's great about it: Easy to use and follow
What's not so great: None

Refunds Galore

When I first started turbotax, it claimed I could not claim my youngest son as a dependent. I tried to go to the proper forms, worksheets, and info to find out why and to change it.. Could not find forms and the program always said "No forms" when I was at the dependent section of step-by-step. When checking for errors at the end of federal return, the program asked a question about my youngest son and only then could I change the form to include him as a dependent.
Being able to compare the previous year's numbers to those of this year as they were placed in columns side by side allowed me to complete my tax return quickly.
What's great about it: easily transfered previous year's tax data
What's not so great: unable to get to forms easily

I love Turbo Tax, been using it the past five or so years and will continue to use it until I pass away.
What's great about it: Quick, easy to use, thorough, understandable.
What's not so great: Cannot think of a single thing really.

Would not efile the Federal return. Error message indicated that an update was required, and to check for updates via the TurboTax menu. No updates were available.
This is not the first time I was not able to efile with TurboTax.
