mistake in Massachusetts

This only affects people who are making IRA withdrawals and happened to have made non-deductible IRA contributions in the past. Turbotax correctly calculates the portion that is taxable to the IRS. The problem is that they then transfer that number (the federally-taxable portion) to the MA Form 1 instead of the whole withdrawal amount. MA never did allow deductions on the contributions, so they base their tax on the total withdrawal, not the federally-taxable portion. So if your federal return includes a Form 8606, TurboTax will be underreporting your income to MA. This also happened in 2012, but not in 2010.
What's great about it: easy to do
What's not so great: no good if Turbotax makes a mistake

First time I ever needed a Form 982 and I had 2 items to put on the form. Turbo Tax doesn't work for more than 1 item on that form. It is the first thing I have ever seen that couldn't be done in Turbo Tax.
What's great about it: Easy, leads you through each topic, several help sources
What's not so great: Found a circumstance Turbo Tax doesn't handle

I decided to directly compare TurboTax vs. HR Block software. Yes.. I did my taxes twice! TurboTax win hands down. Cleaner interface, and just easier to use.
What's great about it: Quick, easy complete
What's not so great: Easy to skip sections
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Comparing with last year's taxes gives me the confidence that I am filing everything I need to file.
My CDROM drive is broken so an alternative media would have made the installing easier.
What's great about it: Imports Last Year and Compares as you Go
What's not so great: Sold only in CDs, Need Alternative media

unbeleavable refund

The whole program is easy to use especially if you have prior returns to transfer info to current return. Have been using Turbo Tax for years and was able to go to specific areas that needed adjusment as aposed to running through every question it cut my time. The only thing I didn't like was when it came to e-file I only wanted to e-file the Federal return and did not want to pay for the state. Usually you would check E-File Federal, and check mail state then would go to e-filt of federal return, after done then would to screen to print state return for filing, then print for records. This time it was a little confusing. But all in all a great product been using for some fifteen or so years.
What's great about it: fantastically easy to prepare
What's not so great: not easy when e-file Federal and mail State
