Updates are clunky

Found some of my investment items were not in my Turbo-Tax when I started up. Only by looking on-line was I able to determine the items were in a non-automatic update I was never told about. Bad call Turbo-Tax.

What's not so great: Does not do automatic updates upon start-up as you might be led to believe. You MUST do a manual update.

2013 Tax Processing

Overall, many enhancements have been made to make the program more user friendly. I know that this is a stretch, but it would be nice if the user had a choice of screen colors. I am color blind and have a difficult time seeing light screen colors. With that being said I still think this is one of the best tax programs on the market.
What's great about it: Ease of use, and transferring of previous year informaton to the following year
What's not so great: The option for e-filing vs. mail filing is not clear. It appears that this process was modified to force the user to sel

Easy Fast and Simple !!!!

If you want a simple non complicated way to file your taxes, this is the program for you. All steps are clear to understand and all basic questions are addressed in each section. I have used this method to file and it is wonderful. You can do it from the convenience of your own home. Most people will be totally satisfied with this method of filing.
What's great about it: Holds your hand thru the whole process. Clear to understand
What's not so great: Nothing

Flawed, but still the best

For the second time in three years the IRS has adjusted my return because the self-employment tax was calculated incorrectly by TurboTax. I sure hope they get this fixed for next year.

I really enjoyed using TurboTax Deluxe, it was simple, quick, and explained information in layman terms that I wouldn't have otherwise understood.
What's great about it: explain different options and fast

Two persistent problems

1) I've used TurboTax for more than 10 years, and I've never understood why the IRA contribution question is asked at the beginning of the interview. The1# IRA contribution question should be near the end, after you know how much you owe in taxes. TurboTax should also tell you how much of an IRA contribution you should make in order to offset the taxes owed.
2) An estimation of itemized deductions is needed, prior to taking the time to go through them all in detail. For example, TurboTax could ask you to input your #typically) largest deductions first, such as mortgage interest, etc. A running total could be provided to compare against the standard deduction, so you could more quickly determine whether or not it's worth the effort to go through every little deduction.
