I have been preparing my personal taxes with Turbo Tax since 1988. The tax code has gotten more complicated each year,but Turbo Tax has kept it user friendly and kept the price reasonable.
What's great about it: Very user friendly
What's not so great: no signifcant cons

Smooth sailing for the most part

The AMT portion for any person I am assuming is confusing. It basically appears that if you make $175K - $450K you get really hosed. But it is confusing and there wasn't much to help in planning for next year. I know, since I make this kind of money I should have a tax person helping me. Secondly, Intuit asks for "where you donated" but TT asks for the address of the charity. So I fixed it all in TT only to have to re-import later with additions to my donations and all the bad addresses came over and I got to do it all again. It should ask me if I want to override all of the address or not since they conflicted.
Other than that, I truly see TT as a simple to use program even in my tax bracket.
What's great about it: Walking me through it even if it doesn't apply
What's not so great: AMT is very confusing

importing info is great

This program is wonderful and asks all the questions to help get your return done accurately. I loved being able to import W-2's and investment details right into TurboTax.
What's great about it: Import detailed investment information
What's not so great: I hate sitting to do my taxes
Pros: I bought or sold investments

A good product

TuroTax was easy to use. Entering information and moving back and forth through the program was simple to do. Finding forms I was looking for and answers to some questions were quick and to the point.
A question or two that I had were not clearly answered, for me, through TurboTax, but I did find the information on the IRS website that then made the TurboTax response make sense.
Overall, a great program for people completing their taxes themselves.

Gets the job done but thats it

Bought the deluxe version thinking state taxes were covered but only the forms were which are free online if I actually needed to file them. Feels very much like a scam to make more money. Otherwise it does what it says.
What's great about it: Fast and easy to use
What's not so great: Doesnt aptly prepare you that you will have to pay for your state taxes
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Great Product

The software is extremely easy to install and use. TurboTax fills out all of the forms for me and recommends the deductions that will maximize my return. I finished my very complex federal and state taxes in just over an hour. After looking over the actual forms filed with the IRS and my state, I am very grateful for the hard work that TurboTax has done on my behalf. Thank you!
