Turbo Tax Experience

you need to keep checking for ambiguities in the questions asked to see if people interpret the question correctly, or if your question was not precise.
e.g the section on Is IRA contribution deductible. Am I participating in a Pension Plan if I am retired and getting monthly annuity checks? Is my retired wife participating in a pension plan if only the employer contributed to it ?
If you own a mobile home/trailer but pay monthly rent to live on the Trailer Park lot, how do you answer the questions on the NY state return pertaining to credits?

This progam was supposed to be easy to use for any person, but I had to have a family accountant assist with completion. I was asked the same question multiple times even though I had already answered on a previous page. I was asked questions and for information that did not relate to me or the increase of my return. As a single, dependantless, non-home owning person I felt that this should have taken me less than one hour to do.
What's not so great: not easy, not fast

Decent product - saves time - especially on straightforward returns. Download from brokerage houses and investments firms is slick.
What's great about it: Concurrent calculation of AMT
What's not so great: Always difficult handling MLP's and other unconventional investments.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

What's great about it: Pretty easy to follow
What's not so great: in some places where an explanation would be helpful there was none.

Overall good platform to complete taxes conveniently from home.

So easy. It's an onerous task we all have to perform but that's just the cost of living in a democracy. Doing one's own taxes is the only way to go. You gain knowledge of your own financial situation, you gain insight into your earnings and expenses, and you get to plan your financial life going forward.
Don't bend over and pay big bucks to some so-called tax pro. They just have you do all the same work and then they take it and enter the data you provide into their own program. TTax lets you rock through the process and as you get a fuller understanding of how our bizarre tax system works you can navigate on your own and really speed up the process.
Use TTax, save money, get it done fast and right, then go fishing with your wife!!
What's great about it: Easy yet comprehensive
What's not so great: Having to pay to efile state oregon
Pros: I bought or sold investments
