Solid

I've been using TurboTax since 1998 and every year it gets a little bit better. This year it was able to automatically download and complete forms for my income and investments. A few years ago I had to chase down cost basis information and type each line item in, but it's now the fastest and easiest part of the return.
Some friends of mine with simpler tax returns actually go to a third party and they are wasting their time and money. This year I got it all done (state and federal tax) in around four hours.
I'd recommend Turbotax to anyone that has a computer and internet access.
What's great about it: Clear and quick
What's not so great: Well, you still have to do some work.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

THOROUGH TO A TEE

I used Turbo Tax several years ago and liked it but then went with another agency. The mistakes made would have never happened with Turbo Tax. I am glad to be back.
What's great about it: I really liked all of the questions asked and how the questions were phrased question to the right.
What's not so great: Not being 100% sure of some of my interpretations
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

A User Friendly Program

I have been using TurboTax for 5 years or more, each year the program is easier to use than the previous year. The tax code has not be simplified but Turbo Tax sure helps and makes the job one of just collecting the information and then answering the questions.
What's great about it: Easy to follow step by step walk-through

ss disability payment taxes

I am a widow who filed for ss disability appeal benefits for mu late husband. There was no place in turbo tax to explore options for filing taxes
What's great about it: ease of the entire program
What's not so great: difficulty in more unique cases

unable to e-file as program said update was necessary, however system said no update was available so have to US Mail return

Messed up e-filing

Program works well up till the time when one needs to e-file. Then it hung up saying it needed an update. When checking for the update it said there was none. Not until i got on the helpline and found someone that suggested removing CD, closing program, then rechecking for updates and then retrying to file did it work.

What's not so great: E-file has bug

Most user-friendly tax software!!

TurboTax is the only software I have used in my tax preparation, as I have found the step-by-step process to be extremely user-friendly. The related tax help information is comprehensive but expressed in a concise manner. In our particular situation, the software does not take into account the special status of US citizens and permanent residents who are employed by international organizations, which issue a statement of taxable earnings in lieu of a W-2.
What's great about it: Step-by-step process is very user-friendly; tax help info is comprehensive but in concise terms
