Best Ever

I have been using TurboTax for several years. Each year I put off doing my taxes, but once I get started with TurboTax I can usually fly through them. This year I had a little glitch, which was resolved by a combination of the technical staff and a CPA person. I was very happy with the result.
What's great about it: I like being taken through everything step by step.
What's not so great: Sometimes the answers to questions are a little confusing to a non-tax expert.

If you take your time and not get to anixous you can get it done. It may become confusing if you have a lot of investment changes or property sales, otherwise it can be a walk in the park.

This is an easy to use product. instructions are goof proof.
What's great about it: ease of e-file and transfer of data
What's not so great: would like to enter data only once, ie e-mail addr, etc.

MN taxes not done right

TurboTax reviewed by MN state taxes twicee and declared all OK and ready to efile. TT collected $19.95 and I filled out a form to e-pay my MN taxes. After submitting efile, TT says "oops, one more thing" and advised I can't efile MN taxes because I have an $8 underpayment. I had to go back, print a copy and mail it. I will probably have to call TT for a refund and don't have the faintest idea how to cancel the epayment to Minnesota. This happened two years ago and I assumed TT would have had this figured out by now. There are lots of good things about TT but to avoid this potential mess in future I am forced to try a different program next year.

Needs more explanation

Concerning Indiana state tax preparation:
* I received an error message, and it took the longest time for me to figure out that it dealt with Long Term Care Insurance because what I was to fill out was hidden because the box with the picture of the form was too small. Then when I discovered it there was no explanation for "qualifying" and "non-qualifying" plan.
* The error was corrected just before filing, which resulted in a refund from the State, but there was no way to go back and check or to set up the refund. At this moment I do not know how the State will process my refund (electronically sending it to my checking account or sending me a check).
It was a good experience using Turbo-Tax until I hit this snag.

What's great about it: Brings in past data to start a new tax preparation. Takes an individual step by step through the process.
What's not so great: Some things were explained poorly. No way to go back to make sure a State refund was was set the way you want.

Doing taxes isn't bad when you have all the data and are prompted for each entry.
What's great about it: Like the error checking and use of forms if there's an issue
What's not so great: Not all companies provide download services
