For years I did my own taxes by hand with a calculator. A few times I made math errors. A number of times I had an unusual situation that I had to research. It would take me a few weeks to a few months to get the taxes done. Since using Turbo Tax for the third year, I don't worry about math errors, and the input of my information is easy. I just have to be careful with some of the unusual things that I may mis-enter or not fully understand and could be subject to error on my part, but the program may not catch.
What's great about it: Easy and Quick
What's not so great: Have to watch for things that may fall thru crack if not attentive to it

This is my sixth year using Turbo-Tax and it just gets easier year after year. I feel safe and comfortable using Turbo-Tax knowing the self-check system goes back and verifies your work and addresses the mis-steps and corrections or adding information that is required. You can rest assure it will double check the entries made; making sure you are getting as much refund as possible. I recommend choosing the system's GUIDE STEPS and use the help menu to assist you to better understand what is required and gives you a more in depth explanation of what is being asked. I am sold on using Turbo-Tax as my tool for doing my Taxes every year. My brothers use Turbo-Tax and loving it as well, after I recommended it three years ago.
What's great about it: Smooth Sailing
What's not so great: delay on announcement on the wait time when spooling-up

Makes filing easy

Besides making the filing process easy, Turbo Tax also check and double checks that all information is filled out accurately.

TurboTax is for people like me who want to do their taxes themselves and not pay someone to do them for them. But I still need for things to be explained in layman's terms where I can understand them and I felt like things were still explained for "tax experts".
What's great about it: Liked that I could go backwards and forwards with ease
What's not so great: Wanted it to get more "dummy-fied" in the language

Why not Turbo Tax?

I talk to so many people who pay someone several hundred dollars to do their taxes even if they take the standard deduction and have no exotic investments or holdings. I always tell them to try Turbo Tax. When you are in one of the chain tax preparation service offices they are pretty much asking you the same questions you can read for yourself. And not to mention doing your own taxes is a great way to learn about our tax system. The software is very easy to use, the questions are straight forward and there are help screens to explain a subject.
What's great about it: Easy to use, cheaper than paying a preparerand you learn about our tax system
What's not so great: None I can think of
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Get It Done!

Overall, I really appreciate the ease of completing my taxes. I also like the idea that the tax due to IRS was taken from my State refund.
I would like to have the choice of only bringing up just the categories I used the previous year and the blanks to fill in the numbers for the current year.
What's great about it: I really appreciate the liability calculators in the top ribbon and the audit risk indicator.
What's not so great: I thought the question to find out if you owed taxes to more than one state was a little misleading.

ALL THE RIGHT QUESTIONS ARE ASKED TO HELP INDIVIDUALS ENTER THE INFORMATION IN THE CORRECT AREA FOR BEST CALCULATIONS AND REFUNDS.
What's great about it: THERE ARE CHECKS AND BALANCES TO ENSURE PROPER ENTRANCE OF INFORMATION.
What's not so great: SOME AREAS DON'T HAVE ENOUGH EXPLANATION (SIMPLE) .
