Education expenses and credits

I find the education section for expenses and credits confusing. If your employer pays the tuition or if there is a tuition exchange program. Turbo tax asked me how much was paid in tuition. I entered the information and I also entered the information that I received tuition reimbursement. Turbo tax was still giving me a credit and I knew this was incorrect. In the explanation perhaps there should be a clearer explanation of how to enter this type of information. In actuality I did not pay any tuition expense out of pocket. So when the questions asks how much tuition was paid it should be clarified if it was paid by the taxpayer to better calculate eligibility. I actually had to go to a tax service and have them review my return to make sure it was correct.

Thorough Tax Preperation

I have used TurboTax from the time it bought out Parson's Tax and have found it to be very helpful in preparing our taxes. From previous experience I know we have saved 100's of dollars over paying a third party to do our taxes. Our tax situation is not simple since we have an S Corp company in addition to our personal taxes.
I did report one problem with TurboTax Deluxe. The program incorrectly insisted that Utah payer id #'s for mineral royalty withholding ended with WTH when in fact they end with WMP
What's great about it: Covered many difficult situations
What's not so great: One inaccuracy regarding royalty payer ID# for Utah
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Very detailed explanations for those of us that do not have a lot of complicated tax issues to deal with.

Turbo Tax Deluxe

I have been using Turbo Tax for many years and had been really happy with but this year was a little less enamored as fees added up when I had to get an extra state form to do my mom's taxes and file them only to later find that the state offered free from and e-file.
Also, I struggled to find help i.e. how to actually talk to somebody.

What's great about it: Walks you through the steps - like that the tool asks you questions
What's not so great: Add on fees for extra state forms and e-filing add up quickly - Help seems to be getting harder to findFe

Easy as can be

Easy quick way to do my taxes. I don't have too much complication in my finances but turbo tax still seemed to look at every aspect just in case I was missing something

Updates

At no point through out my tax preparation did the system tell me that I needed an update in order to finish my tax forms. I believe that your system would be able to be the best, if it stated that not having an updated software may be one of the reasons as to why the forms say "available soon".
What's great about it: good pricing, informative, and user friendly.
What's not so great: the updates made it difficult
