My Reiew of 2013 Turbo Tax

Turbo Tax is great - easy to use for almost all items. The instructions for filling out K-1 info is not clear when it comes to lines 19 & 20. There many sub headings for these lines and even more sub headings under those headings - I went to help and found some assistance offered by other Turbo Tax users but none from Turbo Tax on this item.

While the income tax preparation is never an easy task, TurboTax takes the uncertainty out of the process and takes you through the options with questions that guide you in an easy manner. If a mistake or change needs to be made, it is easy to go back and change/correct anything previously done. Rather than trying to make a marathon out of the process, work can be saved and reopened to the same spot later. The work is checked before filing. There is no worry about a math error. Entries are automatically placed on the appropriate forms.
Just one concern exists. On initially establishing a file, it is not clear what needs to be done to transfer the previous year's data. The format needs to be clarified. If an error is made in not selecting a transfer, the new file is established without the previous data. There appears to be no way to get that data in the return later other than deleting the file and starting a new return from the beginning.

What's great about it: The step-by-step method allowed me to consider each option and determine the direction that was appropriate for me.
What's not so great: The transfer of last year's material was not clearly identified. The initial instruction to transfer should be a yes/no

Turbo Taxes

While I appreciate the ease and simplicity of Turbo Tax steps and language, I am never 100% certain that it is totally correct or if it is absolutely correct.
What's great about it: Easy installation
What's not so great: Frustrating completion, TurboTax kept saying the forms from the Irs had not yet been updated

I have been using Turbo Tax since 1997. There is nothing better on the market. I almost look forward to tax time. My wife and I are now retired and on Social Security as well as getting distribution of our IRAs and pensions. Turbo Tax helps me wade through all the data and gets me the refunds I am due. Thanks for all your hard work, Turbo Tax people.
