Good software. On the E-File for IL. there was a problem. You said I put the information in wrong. I did not.

Overall easy to use

I like the way it downloads last year's information. Especially helpful with charities and such. Also love the comparison to last year's tax return.
What's great about it: Explantions of techincal terms in drop-down boxes.
What's not so great: Got stuck in a loop when I was trying to check my state return.

Best Tax Filing Tool on the Market

Been using TurboTax for many years and have always felt completely comfortable in filing my taxes. I have only been audited by the IRS once for an oversight on my part, not a result of a failure with Turbo Tax. I like the fact you can download documents vs entering the information from W2's, 1099's and Financial Institutions that take a lot of the errors away from entering by hand. Also like the way Turbo Tax transfers information from previous years return to current filing year. I've seen a lot of changes from year-to-year. The step-by-step instructions make it such you do not have to guess what step to take next. There are lots of tutorials that can help you along the way. I like the reviews at the end to make sure you've included everything or not missed a deduction based on your information entered. I've been happy with Turbo Tax, don't have any bad experiences from the IRS to relate that would make me think negatively to the software.
What's great about it: Thorough, Reliable, Easy to Use, Downloading Documents, easy e-filing

poor user interface

in the software update page, I clicked the OK button and nothing happened. SO I clicked it again. Still nothing. Then a new screen popped up and said all updates had been canceled by user. Analysis: the CANCEL button on the subsequent pop-up is aligned with the OK button and rather than empty the click buffer when repainting the new screen, it just used the extra click that was there and canceled the update. Either move the CANCEL button or flush the click buffer when going to a new screen.
It is very confusing when trying to eFile the federal and print the state for mailing. When I select state options, and review, the fed options get checked for printing again.
What's great about it: probably got all the data in
What's not so great: poor user interfaace

Even though I had to pay using Turbo Tax is great!

I have used Turbo Tax for many years and have been happy. But, in 2011 you let me make a mistake that took over six months in 2012 to resolve with the IRS. I had made a double entry for dividends received from the very same company. It was the exact same number (over $3,000). You never questioned it and I submitted the form. It wasn't until I was doing the 2012 forms that I found the error and submitted a 1040X to correct the error that I had made. WHAT A HASSLE with the IRS. It was my mistake but I feel you should have questioned me about it as it was the exact same amount listed on two different lines.
What's great about it: You made it very easy to do my taxes.
What's not so great: Had to pay, but it wasn't your fault.

The price was excellent on the package. I liked the way it would take me back to where I'd left off. The program pulled in my information from last year so I didn't have to re-type it. I got a little frustrated with downloading information from my spouse's broker. It came over but then didn't populate. Probably an operator error on my part. Would like a little more detail on this next time. Otherwise a positive experience and we got a little more money back because the program found information to benefit us.
What's great about it: Easy to use and to navigate
What's not so great: Had an issue with downloading investor information. Couldn't seem to get it to work right and ended up keying it in.
