Improved a little this year

The great news this year is that investment income has been changed and is vastly better. It is easy to enter gains and losses from options sales (the sale comes before the purchase) , far better than the previous year.
Not so good news about charitable deductions:
1) Cannot import from XLS or CSV.
2) The list isn't alphabetical; you have to search for each entry by scrolling the list.
3) If you donate to some charities only in alternate years, it's not clear whether you can leave the skipped ones in the list so the name and address are available for next year.
4) As you go through the address-check list, charity by charity, if you need to click Back, it doesn't go back by one charity--it takes you out of the list and you have to start over at the top of the list again. A pain if you have a hundred or so entries.

Updates: The TurboTax install is great for computer users who operate in the safer "User Mode." It prompts for an Administrator ID and password and installs without requiring the user to log out and re-log in. Unfortunately that is not the case when you need to download updates. If you select Check for Updates and there are some, the update fails. Closing everything and logging out and in is necessary, but shouldn't be.
What's great about it: Entering stock sales and options greatly improved this year
What's not so great: Charitable deductions still mangled; Updates working poorly

Turbo Tax Deluxe review

Overall I enjoyed the software and the result for our taxes, but the extra costs are annoying, and I think there should be an easier help outlet when the choice you need is seemingly not available.
What's great about it: good refund, easy step-by-step process with all deductions/credits/etc.
What's not so great: cost more for filing in two states (we moved in 2013), extra cost to efile, some options I needed were not available
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I moved

Taxes made easy

Great product!!! Took less than one hour to file state and federal returns
What's great about it: Easy to use, fast, free e-file
What's not so great: None

Bad experience

a former Parsons user before you bought them out sereral years ago. Parsons tax program seemed to flow better through the process of filing taxes.
Understanding that filing taxes is not a pleasant experience you keep trying to sell me something extra through out the process which causes frustration because it interferes with what is trying to be accomplished.
Build a better product and it will sell itself and leave your advertisement to the end of the filing process.

I'm been using Turbotax for years and it is the easiest way to do your taxes other than having someone else do it and of course pay them an arm and leg. I have always done my taxes myself and it use to take weeks of going over forms and reading up on specific tax items/laws etc. With Turbotax, it is well worth the money to pay for the program and I can get my taxes done it a couple days--in one sitting if I had all documents on hand. I have also plugged in family members taxes who have paid other firms to do them and have found items that they have missed and Turbotax has caught and some would end up with a bigger refund. I truly recommend Turbotax for anyone.
What's great about it: Very easy, just answer questions

Great Product

Excellent product. I remember the days of paper and hours of calculations. TurboTax is great. Used it for many years. Only 1 year did it present a problem running on XP. Only 1 out of the years since it came out as a consumer product.
What's great about it: Moves previous information into current year's file. Easy step by step.
What's not so great: Sometimes making corrections are more difficult. Ex. self employed expenses, etc.

I have used Turbotax for many years. It continues to be an easy straightforward means of completing the very confusing federal and state tax forms. Once one has used it and determines what records are necessary to have on hand while processing, the subsequent years are very simple.
What's great about it: simple and straightforward
What's not so great: hard to go back and examine forms while in progress
