Superb Program

Superb program. We have a relatively simple tax return and have been using Turbotax for the past 12 years. I like that the program walks you through each of the steps and has additional information available if needed for specific instances. It normally takes me a couple of hours to do both Federal and State tax returns. I especially like how it handles the New York return. I also like that as soon as I am finished I can E-file and save everything into a pdf file.
What's great about it: Walks me through both Federal and State returns
What's not so great: The tax code itself.

Doubting person is convenced.

I was doubting that TurboTax could get me a better tax refund than I could get by preparing my taxes myself.. Doubting that it could get a better tax refund for me than a well-known Tax Service Store. IT DID!!!! TurboTax gave me twice as much of a tax refund than the Tax Service Store I used last year. I prepared my taxes on my own and TurboTax gave me a better tax refund than I did. I'M CONVENIENCED!!! TurboTax gets my business again next year too!
What's great about it: Very detailed for deductions

I used Turbo Tax last year, but this year I found it a bit more challenging for two reasons. For some reason, and I have not figured out why, I had to go back and redo entries because the info wasn't there. Not an issue last year. Also, I'm still waiting for a fix for my MA return. It's counting a rollover as income. All in all, a bit annoying this time around. I'm not saying I wouldn't use it again, but things need to be tightened up a bit from a software perspective.
What's great about it: Walks me through the process
What's not so great: Had to repeat steps numerous times and I don't know why

We had a Parent move in with us at the end of 2012 that we had to support in 2013. We were unsure what the qualifications were for claiming a parent as a dependent filing jointly along with our 2 children. TurboTax was able to provide answers to our questions so we could assure ourselves the peace of mind that we were filing correctly and not making any errors.
What's great about it: User friendly and easy to navigate for reviewing or needing to revise information
What's not so great: Tax law changes that prohibited my family from a larger refund.

Solves Complicated Taxation

I like the simplicity of TurboTax. I've been a faithful TT user for the past 12 years. Tax laws are complicated...the 1040 instruction book this year is 206 pages! TurboTax certainly simplifies the process.
That said, I like to double check the numbers on the 1040 and understand where they came from. It took me a while to figure out how to find the worksheets the values on the 1040.
What's great about it: Simple and Easy to Use
What's not so great: Difficult to figure out where numbers on 1040 came from

Not At All Taxing Prep & Filing

We have used Turbo software for our taxes for the last 8 years. Each year it is better and easier to follow along. we have given all children each their own Turbo Tax software. As we have found it is worth the cost both in time and information as well as ease in completing both State and Federal taxes and also the filing for both.
What's great about it: Easy to follow along, Clear and concise info and advice. tax guidence accurate
What's not so great: Final preview printing of taxes for filing not easy to find.
