Another year down

For those who have used TurboTax for many years, there should be a way to bypass those forms that you have never used.
The program is easy to use. Each year there are a few more bells and whistles. Being able to import from Quicken is a help.
What's great about it: Used for many years. Get in get done, relax.
What's not so great: When you do it yourself, there are forms that one doesn't use.

I love using turbo tax, makes it very easy to complete the taxes every year. I like how it shows how much money we are getting back as I enter each entry.
What's great about it: easy to use, step by step instructions, helpful answers

I've used Turbo Tax since 1999. It is so easy and handy that it is my first purchase when it is time to do taxes.

Aways has worked well for me over then years. One suggestion. THere should be a question/comment on first year RMD's distributions that point out the following: If you are going to take a a trequired additional sum before 4/1, you should note/answer that all of your RMD has been taken for that first tax year when asked.

Cons: Specifically "Dividend Income" on state form was really ordinary dividends, capital gains, non dividend distributions and exempt interest dividends. NOT CLEAR. Then Turbo Tax provided no mapping back to the federal form to indicate where the automatically imported numbers came from. Same lack of mapping problem exists for "long term capital gains" and "short term capital gains". These latter numbers were imported from the federal form but no link back was provided to understand how these numbers were calculated.
What's great about it: In general, explanations for data entries are good and overall effort with Turbo Tax was straight forward but tedious
What's not so great: Import mapping of state data back to federal forms was poor.

STRESS FREE TAX PREP

I HAVE BEEN A TTAX USER FOR YEARS AND YEARS AND WOULDN'T USE ANYTHING ELSE. THIS PROGRAM HAS GUIDED ME THROUGH HOME SALES/PURCHASES. A MOVE TO ANOTHER STATE AND DEATH OF MY SPOUSE. AND HOW I LOVE THE E-FILE OPTION. ONE THING I WOULD LIKE TO SEE IS A BETTER ALERT/INFORMATION ON WHERE TO ENTER THE 1099R AND 1099INT. ONE YEAR I ADDED THEM BOTH TO THE INTEREST INCOME SECTION, AND I ALMOST DID THAT AGAIN THIS YEAR BECAUSE THE FORMS ARE SO SIMILAR.
What's great about it: EASE OF USE
What's not so great: ONE LITTLE THING
