Good on Federal - State software was a waste

I receive a pension from my husband, who is deceased, and was born in 1940. When I put in the information, the software put the pension in the wrong portion of the pension form, limiting the subtraction from income to an incorrect $20,000. After checking my entries a few times, I gave up, and completed my state form manually without the use of turbo tax.
I'm sure it was the software, since after I did my return, one of your software updates fixed the problem. I feel sorry for those that relied on your software.
What's great about it: Easy to put in information, federal return calculated correctly
What's not so great: State of Michigan return had a programming error

Very Good Software

Needs to have a pre-preparation check list to have all necessary documents on hand before starting tax return. so that a person doesn't have to get up and search for paperwork.
Otherwise a very good step by step tax preparation software.
What's great about it: Excellant guidance through all possible deductions
What's not so great: Need to have a pre-preperation check list.

We've been using Both Turbo Tax and Quicken since 2002. Wooks great for us. The phone help is "The Best" they stay on until the problem is fixed! I can find most of answers to questions in the Turbo Tax Community. You keep doing it right, and I'll keep using Turbo Tax and Quicken.

Another Great Year

I LOVE TURBO TAX I have been using it for the last 4 years and Im mad that I didnt know about it sooner.It makes Tax time so much easier.
What's great about it: The download process from one year to the next
What's not so great: It takes a long time for the system to boot it self up on computer

looking at the box it says federal and state I thought you could e- file both but that is not true so I will have to mail to state.

imported 1099Int from Merrill Lynch. it worked but required manual updates to enter the state code and percentage. of interest for the state. can this be made automatic?

Us against the IRS

All seems to work well. I had many questions about entries into TurboTax but I found that if I really looked at the stuff I got from my employers and financial institutions, the answers were right there. This is not TurboTax's fault, just all the stuff that needs to be entered correctly. I like TurboTax because most of the research that I have to do for tax preperation, I would have to do if I went to a professional. TurboTax walks you through all of the things that you need to know/report/list/deduct/etc. Very thorough.
What's great about it: Good for us who like to do things for ourselves
What's not so great: Have to pay attention to details in stuff we get from employers and investment companies.
Pros: I bought or sold investments
