Owe money, but this is the best way to file

A good product; used Turbo Tax for 10 years!
What's great about it: ease of use; good use of downloads from financial institutions
What's not so great: time consuming with updates
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

Have been using TurboTax for years. It's quick, easy, and drills down to help you every step of the way. It'sDeductible helps with all charitable contributions and makes that portion so much easier. Overall.....5 Stars!!!

THE default tax software

I've used Turbotax (Originally MacinTax) since the 90s. I've always found it to be very thorough, intuitive, and useful for adding in all required elements. My taxes are not terribly complicated (Itemized, but no business or rental properties etc.) and I can input the data in about an hour. So far no audits, though I was asked to provide additional information one year. I had to submit an amended return one year (for additional refund) and that too went smoothly. eFiling works great. My only complaint is that I have to use my wife's MBPro because my 2006 MacMini with dual core 32 bit processor won't work with the 2012 or 2013 software.
What's great about it: Very intuitive and complete for personal taxes.
What's not so great: Requires newer 64 bit processor

Easy to Use

I have not had a problem with this software in the many years I have been using it. I have also amended returns and found this process very straight forward. My tax status is not complicated and for anyone with this status I highly recommend this software.

Found a glitch - Education Section

Overall, a great product. I"ve been using TurboTax for probably eight or more years. I found a glitch. When inputting school info (name, address, 1098-T sent to you, etc.) it asks if there is another school the person attended. This is fine for the second school, but when you get to the same screen (Add another school) it takes you through the process again like it failed to accept the first school. This can be corrected by asking (after each school) "other than ABC School, did John Smith attend any other schools? Y/N" Add each school afterward so that, when concluding the section, it indicates what has already been entered. Then add the "continue" or "done with this section" radio button.
What's great about it: Easier to use than previous year. Fewer updates required. Better workflow.
What's not so great: One section had a glitch that could have been corrected with simple editing of text.

Satisfied another year

I have been doing my Federal Tax Return with Turbo Tax for seven years now, and each time it is a simple transaction to get my return e-Filed. I used to do my taxes by hand, and after the first year of getting all my information into Turbo Tax, the following years have been extremely simple exercises of just updating relevant numbers into the appropriate fields. What used to take hours, and sometimes days, is now performed in less than one hour. Thank you Turbo Tax for making my life easy during tax time.
What's great about it: Easy to navigate, and importing last year's return is alway a benefit
What's not so great: Continued questions on State tax return, even though Texas does not have a state tax, and that was previosly answered

trouble with pension exclusion

as seen above..i dont know why i have trouble getting the pension exclusion for nys onto the nys tax form - spend a lot of time trying to get it correct-please make it easier

Easy Peazy!

I used an accountant for years to file my tax returns. Then one day I got a notice from the IRS saying that I didn't pay all taxes due from a return he filed for me a few years ago.Turns out he screwed up and didn't enter the info properly. So I had to pay an extra $1,100. I was not a happy camper.
This would never have happened with Turbo Tax. I've been using Turbo Tax for 4 years and it's been perfect! I save hundreds of dollars every year on tax preparation fees. I highly recommend Turbo Tax
What's great about it: Walks you through all of the elements to file a complete return
What's not so great: None.
