Can't be any easier

I have used TurboTax for many years. I like the importing of past records which streamlines the data entry process. For example, most times I have the same charities, so, only need to enter this year's numbers.
When I printed out the return, I saw the many worksheets and comparison tables to past returns which were very informative and helpful to capture my year-to-year expenses.
What's great about it: step-by-step process is comprehensive method to enter numbers.
What's not so great: Only a little difficult to easily go back and reenter an item left out.

Excellant Tax Program

I have been using the product for over 10 years. I have never had any complaints in using it, very smooth in working. I would recommend to all.
What's great about it: Has alwaysworked great for me. No complaints ever.
What's not so great: Nothing so far any thing to say.

Another Fine Experience

This was my first year to list benefits received from Social Security. After the math was performs towards the end, I realized that I was taxed on 85% of my benefits. I thought it was more like 50%, but apparently that was changed some years ago. I could not find any information relating to that fact or if there was a sliding scale present? Is 85% standard for everyone? A little more direction and explanation, especially for first time benefit recipients of SSA would be helpful to easily access. Otherwise, everything was laid out in an easy to understand order and it was presented nicely.
What's great about it: Most everything is detailed in order.
What's not so great: The "Learn more" tab should be more explanitory.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Fed good Idaho bad

When I prepared my Idaho tax return using Turbo Tax, it showed me owing much more money than I did last year. On closer inspection, it carried over my itemized deductions from my Federal return. However, Idaho lets you itemize for Federal and take the Idaho standard deduction for Idaho. By taking the standard deduction for Idaho, I was able to deduct my health insurance premiums in a different place making my taxable income much lower than by itemizing. I happen to be a retired CPA and was able to see the problem. I would imagine that the average Idaho TurboTax user would not even know to look at this and will end up overpaying their Idaho income taxes. I hand prepared my Idaho tax return using the Idaho standard deduction and attached a copy of my Federal tax that was prepared on Turbo Tax with itemized deductions.
What's great about it: Had my data from last year
What's not so great: Turbo tax did not let me take all of the deductions I was entitled to on my Idaho return.

I finally filed electronically

I love using this tool and have done so in the past but printed the returns out to mail. Due to identity theft I could not file online in the past so this was the first year I filed online and I loved it! The questions are easy to follow and with very encouraging language. I find the medical expense section rather tedious though. I listed them all under Medical Professional because I didn't have them segregated as Medical Professional, Dental, Lab and Eye expenses. Schedule A doesn't ask for them this way. When I previewed my return I wanted to go back to segregate them as requested by Turbo Tax but couldn't find a way to get back to that part of the return. Other than that I loved using it. Thanks for a good product.
What's great about it: Easy instructions and friendly narratives.
What's not so great: Didn't like having to segregate all the medical exp; no obvious button to go back to change something at end of return

TT has been better

In regards to the con of medical type classifications, I think it would be better if you explained what was included instead of breaking the medical costs into different categories. I take out-of-pocket costs from my medical statement as I have paid my bill. I couldn't tell you if part of it was for hospital fees, labs, or a doctor visit. This part was overkill. Overall, Turbo Tax is a great product. I will be using it again.
What's great about it: Fairly easy to work through. Easy retrieval of previous info.
What's not so great: What's with the medical type classifications? Doc visits, labs, prescriptions should all be in one.
Pros: I bought or sold investments
