Simple & Easy

As usual , the guide for doing my 2013 tax return was simple and relatively painless.
What's great about it: Ease of getting through tax preparation
What's not so great: Not being notified when form for sales tax was ready.

Deluxe version works every time

With Turbo Tax I can put in all my information and be confident that I will get the correct results with minimal effort. The first couple of times I did it, I used the Home and Business version. It provided lots of important help for figuring out how to do my taxes. However all versions have all forms, so if you know what you are doing, you only need to get the Deluxe edition. It still asks me all the important questions, and since I am already familiar with what I am looking for, I don't need the extra help that the Home and Business edition provides.
It asks for a lot of information, figures out what information gives you the best result, and gives you the best results you can get, quickly.
Occasionally I have gotten results that didn't make sense. But I have always found that the help files always provide enough information about the tax code and what the tax code is intended to do, that I am able to satisfy myself that Turbo Tax has done it correctly.

finding deductions

While searching for deductions like medical or other state deductions the amounts are not in the areas the program is looking for. some how you need to have a way to inform people that w2s are not all equal and to look in other places
What's great about it: most w2s are good
What's not so great: some w2s are different

2013 taxes

(Contiuing) The problem with the PIN apparently would not let me e-file. I have now made a copy and mailed the Form 1040. I did use the IPPIN at the bottom of my Form 1040 at the space provided.
What's great about it: Every area covered
What's not so great: I suffered ID theft in 2011 and have a 6 digit IRS IPPIN. I never could get the Turbo Tax forms to accept it.

I love how quick and easy it is to use Turbo Tax. It pulls in all of our info from past years and saves me a lot of steps!

We used to pay an accountant to prepare our return, but turbo tax is faster, easier and a lot cheaper!
