I still enjoy doing my own taxes and have TurboTax to thank for giving me the confidence to get it right...
What's great about it: Mostly detailed instructions. State filing included in the price this year...
What's not so great: Only one state filing vs 5 Fed returns.

Looking for a solution to the file save error, none of the on-line suggestions worked. And looking at the other responses, I'm not the only one with the problem. I ended up keying everything in a second time.
I've used TT for years, but the last couple of years it's been going down hill..I still use the CD or download version, but TT seems to be shifting their focus to the web based junk.
It's time to remember the people who supported your growth, and work the bugs out of the traditional versions too.
What's great about it: Still the easiest way to file taxes.
What's not so great: Errored out and wouldn''t save my return numerous times
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Your computer does not meet the requirements

When I first tried to install, I got the message your system does not meet the minimum requirements. I am tech savvy enough to go to intuit help and search through the FAQ. One suggestion was to update the antivirus software and it might work. THAT is what the message should indicate so the user has a clue what to change. I use Avast and have it set for auto updates. When I ran a check, there was a new version out which I installed and then TurboTax loaded OK. I don't know the rationale for Turbotax being inoperable, but it really started me off on the wrong foot for the first time since '95 or '96 versions when I began using Turbotax. Fix it or present a message to indicate the solution. New users will likely just bail and return the product. Just sayin'
What's great about it: great import from previous years, efficient questions to completion.
What's not so great: Initial installation unsuccessful.

TurboTax #1 AGAIN!!!

This is probably a "homer" review. That being said, I've used TT for over 20 years. I have always been satisfied. When I speak with friends in similar income circumstances, they wonder how I got the refund I did. You see, theirs are almost always smaller. I say to them, "Two words: TURBO TAX!"
What's great about it: Easy, comprehensive.
What's not so great: After many years, I don't see any worth noting

Easy as Pie!

I have been using TurboTax for about five years now, and the process couldn't be easier. It walks me step by step through the filing process, with great help along the way if you want more detail about any particular area or why things calculated the way they did. It got me through all my kids in college, with appropriate credits applied along the way. Now that my taxes are simpler, I was able to complete the entire process within an hour this year - what a pleasure!
The only issue I encountered for the first time this year was a glitch with the software that told me I had to apply updates before e-filing but when I checked for updates there were none. A reboot of my PC solved the problem and I was able to e-file without incident.
What's great about it: Very easy step by step process
What's not so great: Software glitch related to updates; resolved but annoying

Over the years, I have learned to trust TurboTax to do me right. I continue to think that after this session.
What's great about it: Simple process in a very confusing legal environment. Thanks.
What's not so great: Rejected e-file because it needed an update. But, every attempt to update told me the version was current.
