Be careful if you change jobs

I went from a manufacturer's rep to an employee and started from scratch because I made the error of importing previous year data.
Other than that a great product
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

I would like the step by step method to ask if you are a farmer and go thru the schedule F.
What's great about it: easy to use
What's not so great: step by step does not go thru schedule F

Done easy

Easy enter of data from w-2 and 1099 forms, Did not work well with "insert" from hand-writing keyboard on Surface (double entered). Would like to see OCR from snapping picture of w-2 and other forms.
What's great about it: Step by step walk through. Questions quickly answered with find.
What's not so great: Have to go through details when review section, no quick summary.

Easy-step-by-step instructions. Very easy to follow. Doesn't use jargon. I love it and will continue using it. Wish we didn't have to pay taxes but I guess we all enjoy nice new roads and schools :)
What's great about it: Easy step-by-step instructions

like that can print out forms and the e-file is free. just wish both federal and state were free. after having to buy the software and having that expense it would make things easier. also don't understand is the software good for more than just one years taxes, or does it update for future years.
What's great about it: easy to follow
What's not so great: can't see the calculations in progress

Made Life Easier

I have used Turbo Tax for a number of years now, and have never had any problems. I like the fact that it auto downloads information from previous years. This makes it so much faster than having to type everything in, every year.
Going over to the state form is just as easy. There are so many benefits of using Turbo Tax and I when I'm done, I feel confident that my return is accurate and filed safely.
What's great about it: Can do it from the comfort of my home and my computer
What's not so great: Not much

very good but have quirks.

I'd been using Turbotax for several years and I thought it would keep track of things I'd entered in the previous years but it doesn't seem to. For example, my children had gone to college for a few years (hadn't graduated yet) and Turbotax had taken the American Opportunity and Hope credits in the prior years returns. Yet Turbotax doesn't seem to have maintained an accurate history of what it suggest I took, as a matter of fact, the 2013 Turbotax even prompted me for how many times I took this credit! Also, in the same vein Turbotax 2013 asked if I had the 1098-T statement, twice! and it was one after the other. WHY? In addition, I was filling out my child's return and it asked if he will be filed as a dependent on my tax form which I responded 'yes' but Turbotax when through several screens asking for details of the 1098-T form for my child even though I know he's not eligible to use it as a deduction. Why go through all this work of entering the information just to tell me he's not qualified to take this deduction? Waste of time... I was also unable to restart a previously saved 2013 return. The prompt kept asking for a 2012 return; i.e. a .tax2012, return and doesn't seem to understand the .tax2013 return. I had to start from the beginning. As I'd mentioned, I'd used Turbotax for several years. There were refunds from prior years and Turbotax should have kept track of it. When Turbotax got to the part where it asked me if I had a refund from the prior year, WHY IS IT ASKING THIS SINCE IT SHOULD ALREADY HAVE THIS INFORMATION? The box wasn't filled in (it should have been) with the refund from the prior return. Just for giggles, I selected 'No' and it came back telling me I had a refund, here's the amount and if I wanted to use it. WHY? This was confusing since it knows I had this refund and it needed to be reported.
What's great about it: step-by-step guidance very helpful
What's not so great: don't understand why some things were being asked for.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Still like that I can do my own taxes. Just couldn't enter the 11 large jars of peanut butter that I donated
What's great about it: Still like that I can do it
What's not so great: Directions and editing were not as easy as last year
