The only fault I have is I started to enter a business deduction in one area, then decided it belonged in another area and couldn't delete the original entry.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Overall a great application. Have been using for years.
What's great about it: Easy to use.
What's not so great: Some area's could use a "jump to" link. Found myself searching for a description for an amount I did not understand.

I find the vehicle part of schedule C very tiresome. We always just take the standard mileage deduction, but to get there, we have to enter a lot of unneeded information. Why not ask at the start if we want to use the standard rate and let us skip the rest? Thanks.

What's great about it: Easiest review questions and help links
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I moved

I found Turbo tax is the easiest DIY filing tax application based on my 10 year of experience. I like the details explanation of each item since it helps me to clarify my tax status on each category. The help online also provide extra information on some questions that I had.
What's great about it: With details explanation on each item
What's not so great: Can't see the actual form at the same time during the process

Working on pension exclusion, Turbo Tax stated my 502 was not complete. No explanation. I had to go to the MARYLAND tax site to find out what was missing. Then I had to search for the needed worksheet. Previous versions would automatically hi-lite worksheets.
What's great about it: not having state help or instructions
What's not so great: had to pay for state, additional fee to efile and a fee to take the fee from my return
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Imports all information from previous years, imports W-2, and other financial documents. Math is always correct. Electronic filing, what else would anyone need?
What's great about it: Easy to use, import all documents

Uncharacteristic problems

I normally use TurboTax every year with no issues whatsoever, but this year was different. For my state return, I was filling out information for form M1PR, as I have for several years, and TurboTax kept giving me an error. Apparently, TurboTax thinks that I am supposed to have something in line 5 from a different form, even though that other form is obsolete and line 5 is supposed to be empty. I could not get past this issue, so I had to fill out that form manually (defeats the purpose of tax software).
I then went to e-file my federal return, and it gave me another error! The error said that TurboTax was out of date, and that I had to update. I thought that was weird since I had just updated it, but I checked for updates anyway. No updates! Still couldn't e-file, so I had to resort to sending in my federal return by mail.
Overall, this year with TurboTax was a disappointment. I will give them another shot next year because of the previous years of success, but that's their last shot.
What's great about it: Federal and State income forms filled out fine
What's not so great: Major problems with other forms and e-filing
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)
