We trust Turbo Tax

We have been using Turbo Tax for the past 7 years. I am confident that the product offers us the best option.
What's great about it: The program is easy to use - the import from last year's taxes is very helpful
What's not so great: None that I can think of

Very easy to follow

The request to transfer info about last years return and supplementary information from Quickens should come up automatically, like it used to do, on the tax form you are about to prepare. You have to "hunt down" how to transfer the info and if you are unfamiliar with the program, you'll have a hard time finding it, or miss that feature all together.
What's not so great: Directions to pull deductions, etc. from Quickens file should come up automatically when completing tax forms,

state filing should be part of the cost. everyone is beginning to offer free filing - why not build a loyal customer base now.
What's great about it: easy to use, asked questions, answered my questions.
What's not so great: fee for filing state is annoying. advertising and sales pitches throughout are distracting

Problematic e-filing
on March 1, 2014

I've been using TurboTax for years, since it was MacInTax, in fact. It's always worked well, no glitches, no problems.
However, this time I encountered problems with e-filing. The transmission wouldn't go through, and a dialog box told me to check for updates -- or to file by mail (which you can no longer do in New York State). I had already updated the software at the beginning, but I checked again anyway. No updates. Tried again, failed again. Tried a third, fourth, fifth time by backing up to the Review phase and starting again. No luck. Finally, I quit the application entirely, restarted it, and it worked.
A simple note that you should quit and restart the program after every time you download an update (it did that once on its own, actually) or as part of the "Transmission Failed" dialog box, would have saved a lot of frustration. Just add a sentence to that dialog box, problem solved!
What's great about it: Preparation is quick and simple.
What's not so great: Inexcusable E-Filing glitch
