My previous files etc were wiped out due to flooding. This year program seems a little less friendly to use and navigate
What's great about it: Always a great program
What's not so great: Not as user friendly this year

I have used Turbo-Tax for 5 years and appreciate the fact that I'm able to take advantage of someone's hard work in making the tax code, forms, and calculations things that I don't have to work at to understand what things apply and how to work them.
Each year the program improves but it still looks enough like earlier versions that my learning period with it is minimal.
What's great about it: Pulling in last year's data and this year's information online.
What's not so great: Some of the explanatory language about the forms was hard to follow, and the print options at the end are a bit clunky.

We have used Turbo-Tax for several years. It successfully walks us through the process of doing our income tax. Turbo-Tax has improved every year in ease of filling out the forms and filing our tax return. A great product.
What's great about it: Ease of filing return
What's not so great: None that I can think of

Selection of deduction credits

I enjoy using the turbo tax deluxe version, it helps me pick and chose my resources and deductions and explains in more detail the federal and state tax law, including restrictions and non-deductible items.
What's great about it: Provided detailed list of items that are deductible for charity
What's not so great: Did not explain in detail the (RMD) Required Minumim Distribution at age 70-1/2 age requirement for state PERS retirees

Worked great! I filled out all the tax forms myself, then ran Turbo tax. Turbo Tax came up with 300+ dollar more in refunds than I did on my own. Well worth what I paid for the program.
What's great about it: Got larger refund than when I did taxes myself
What's not so great: none

Entering gambling data
on February 27, 2014

Gambling income is part of AGI and as such falls under the "Income tab". However, Gambling losses are listed on Schedule A which is part of the "Deductions tab". TurboTax has us entering Gambling losses immediately after entering the 1099-Gs for the winnings while we are still under the "INCOME tab"..........No problem except for the poor snook (like me) that got tired after entering all the 109s and saved the file and then came back 2 days later zand went dtraight to the DEDUCTIONS tab (which means I did NOT enter any gambling losses)........I discovered the error after receiving my return and had to do an amended return......all because TurboTax is programmed to enter G-losses immediately following entering winnings (I "assumed" that the losses would be entered under the DEDUCTION tab instead of the INCOME tab but by vthe time I sterted doing the deductions, I'd forgotten about the gambling losses and wound up screwing myself.
What's great about it: Easy to do
What's not so great: Deduction immediately follows gambling income
