Good aid in Filing

Overall the software makes filing federal tax forms efficient and easy. Step by step instructions with easy explanations of each entry put user at easy and make what is naturally stressful less so.
What's great about it: Easy to navigate and amend errors. User friendly interface with plenty of error prevention.
What's not so great: Tax code system has to deal with - needlessly complex

Told me the State sales tax calculator are was under construction - really, nearly March and not ready. Under the intro area,
I had it brows for the file of the return on my thumb drive and it would not choose the file since the extention was .13.
For security I, i always put the return on a thumb drive, since every two years a virus is going to destroy my hard drive.

What's not so great: could not get Turbotax to choose the file on my thumbdrive to open - would only open .12 year review.

Easy to get thru

As stated above all the forms was not ready when I started the return. After much searching I found a telephone number and the lady I talked to really helped me out and get thru my problems. You should have a phone number with your instructions. The on line help was not much help.
Not your problem but I went back thru my return and could not find why my refund was smaller than last year.

WI 2013 Form 1 Line 30 - Married Couple Credit

TurboTax takes data from W-2's Box 1, and uses it to compute Wisconsin Form 1 Married Couple Credit (Line 30). When the W-2 Box 1 entry is for Other Compensation such as deferred compensation, this results in an erroneous result. (See WI Form 1 Instructions). I had to change this manually in the program work sheets to produce an accurate return
The TurboTax program needs additional questions to address a number of situations where W-2 Box 1 data need to be adjusted to assure an accurate return is prepared. Your 100% accurate guarantee was not achieved in my case.

I anticipated spending 4-5 hours to complete, but only took less than 1 hour. Down loading data saved me the time to look up all the information and reporting it in the proper section

Pretty easy to use and seems to dig out all deductions. I found the online help not very helpful when trying to eFile. I had to completely exit then open the program to get all updates (which had no impact anyway) and was frustrated. I rolled the refund into next years estimated tax payments and was almost chastised!
Nice record of last years!
What's great about it: Relatively easy to follow steps.
What's not so great: Hard to find some items without going to the line on the 1040

All my investment history did not import. I had to manually enter Names, Dates bought & sold, proceeds/cost basis. somehow it wouldn't accept it at first. It took several (3-5) times. It took me 2 days to complete. I probably will think twice next yr. about buying your Turbo Tax.

What's not so great: importing investments

The easy at which one goes through in entire process is great, I can quickly go through the process without the worry of leaving something out. The questions guide me through the process making sure that I am thorough in my entries. The review process and flags help my return to me highly accurate.
What's great about it: Quick, thorough, highly accurate
What's not so great: None, REALLY none...
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)
