Had a good day with TT

This is a good product, keep up with the improvements. Keep the cost in line.
What's great about it: Fast and filed out all the correct forms. Easier than the paper way
What's not so great: had to go back to start a couple of timesfor review after saving

AMAZING!

This is the third year I have used TurboTax and im still loving it way cheaper than having ti go get it done with someone :)
What's great about it: Easy to use very quick explains everything.
What's not so great: None.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Could Not EFile and Help Center Was Useless

After several years of filing with TT, this year I get an error message amd cannt file electronically. If I am to believe the posts, there is a problem with the disk. I go to the website and find it looks like a message board with people asking questions and random people answering the questions. What if that random person is a nut? The website should be more robust given the popularity of TT. I don't pay for TT to get answers from random people. Plus, I paid to file my state return elecytronically and I can't do it because of the glitch!! Ugh! So now I have to file my returns in person or thru the mail. Not good TT not good!!
What's great about it: I like that when used annually, I am shown the prior year amounts of income and deductions.
What's not so great: I got an error message and could not file electronically

went to a professional last year dont really know why thought they might do a better job since we had sold our rental. I don't believe they did so this year it's back to Turbo Tax

Great help when I contacted support

Have used Turbo Tax for a few years now with satisfaction but found using your sales tax entry screens using Easy Guide very confusing and misleading. A search thru a comment in "the community" indicated I needed to manually enter sales taxes on Schedule A. That finally resolved my issue but it required at least an hour online with support. The issue with sales tax entries - my Washington state as an example: I want to take the standard deduction for my income bracket for sales tax and enter 3 major additional sales tax expenditures. Within a 20 mile radius of where I live are multiple sales tax rates. I could not get them entered with Easy Guide. A link to the IRS sales tax calculator would have helped find the local rate and info on how to enter multiple tax rates on Schedule A would surely have helped. The sales tax section needs work. It cost me a lot of extra time.
What's great about it: I could find the answers to most questions
What's not so great: The Easy Guide Sales Tax webpages need work.

Excellent Tax Program!

Easy to work in forms view if you understand tax source documents and the flow of information. I have been preparing tax returns for 28 years and have used some very complicated professional tax programs. But I always have used Turbo Tax for my own returns. I like the way the forms view is easy to navigate/ Some people I know that have used the Step by Step method have called me to help them fix their errors because they got too confused with all of the questions that drew them in to the wrong direction. When I look at the file I go to the forms view and can fix their errors in a matter of minutes. I'm not sure what to recommend to make the step by step method more effective. I guess it is just personal preference. But I like Turbo Tax a lot and recommend it to people who want to do their own return.
What's great about it: Forms view works great
What's not so great: Step by step gets too complicated
