I have used Turbo Tax over the last several years after switching from another brand. It's easy to use, took more time gathering the information than completing both refunds.
What's great about it: easy step by step instructions, gets you the most bang for your buck in refunds

Too Paternalistic

Excellent product, I've used it since it first came on the market. My only reservation is Intuit's decision to take away customer choice by delaying the ability to file returns using the draft Form 8960 guidelines. Where the IRS is giving no date by which the final form will be available, it was not a software vendor's role to decide for the taxpayer how to handle this issue. Yes, you should warn the users that they may need to refile due to changes in the final form --NO, Intuit should not have made the decision for the taxpayer by preventing the user from filing through TurboTax until February 26, 2014.

The program goes searching for items you might have overlooked. That has helped me remember the things that need to be in the return. Also, having the computations done for me (where I didn't have to figure out what to add, subtract, multiply, etc.) was great. You don't have to understand the tax laws to use the program.
What's great about it: Turbotax made the return about as easy as it could have been. It is nice that the program goes looking for things.
What's not so great: Sometimes a bit tedious, but helpful

did not import last years information into this years forms as it had in the past. made for a lot more work. ( I have finished and still has not???)
ready for filing, and has not asked for bank information for refund, do not know if it will after I press FILE. during error check, sent me to state for a ID number, Texas has no state ID?? When entering separate different grouping, instead of goin g to the next, I have to scroll dwn each time.

refund by TT is easy

last year I was charged for state refund on both returns, this year had same thing happen. No free state return at all.
What's great about it: easy to install, easy to use
What's not so great: charged for state refund--again

Another easy return! Even with some major differences between this year and last, TurboTax was able to guide me effortlessly through the return. Love it!

Easiest way to file

There were a few rule changes that I didn't realize. In the past about the only way to see the rules was to review the IRS publications. TurboTax had a great explanation without having to dissect the IRS muck. TurboTax has gotten better every year since I started using it in 1990.
What's great about it: Good explanations of rules and options
What's not so great: Not many, if any
