I don't know what I would do without TurboTax, it gives me confidence that my returns are being filed correctly and that I am aware of current tax laws and requirements. The ability to e-file is excellent and better than by mail.

What's great about it: I have used TurboTax for years now and each year it provides the info base I need to accurately complete forms.
What's not so great: While I sometimes have to study the informaiton; with patience, it has lead me to correct answers.

I would like an option to opt for the standard deduction early on if I know that I will not exceed the amount itemized.

When an item is calculated it appears it is not possible for the user to enter a change. Wouldn't it be better, after the normal warnings, to allow a change and if necessary print it it a different color. For example, I had to manually file an amended CA 540 last year and my taxes paid to the state were different than those used by Turbo Tax in this year's return. I third to change the data but couldn't. It seems to me that in previous years one could do such things.
What's great about it: The relative ease of entering data and the accuracy of calculations.
What's not so great: Data (income) from Form 1116 is not automatically transferred to Form 1040. Taxes paid are.

Do not like having to pay a fee to file my state taxes....with what Turbo Tax cost, it should be free!!
What's great about it: Federal part was fine....
What's not so great: State filing fee needs to be removed..

The e-filing fee upset me.
What's great about it: Appears to cover every situation
What's not so great: I was not aware there was a fee for e-filing my state return until I was almost through with the process of e-filing.

I have used Turbo Tax for the last 5 years and find it quite easy to use. Originally I used it for my business, not that I am retired it is
quick and easy to use. Waiting for the federal updates to be ready is frustrating when I am trying to leave the polar vortex without worrying about not having all forms ready to file. However it is worth the effort.
