Great, except . . .

TT handles payments from Canadian sources with the exception of Old Age Pension amounts reported on a Canadian NR4-OAS form. I tried to "force" an entry through the existing step-by-step system but it kept asking for information that we didn't have. Finally, in TT Help, I found an entry that said "record it as Miscellaneous Income and there shouldn't be a problem." That's what I did. It would have been nice if TT had handled this as part of the step-by-step process - much less tenuous.
What's great about it: Handled all necessary (for us) forms
What's not so great: Did not adequately handle Canadian OAS income. This required research in TT help.

It has made preparing income taxes easier. I just keep records in Excel and use the totals for TurboTax.
What's great about it: easy to use and eliminates math errors
What's not so great: It would be easier to use if i could see tthe actual files data filled.

On Child's return EasyStep never took me to form 8615. Thankfully I remembered to do it. I had to change some information in a form, and TurboTax would not recalculate correctly. I had to delete the form and do it over again. There are always problems every year, and you can't trust the program not to have errors, or Easystep to not leave something out. I always check my forms several times.
What's great about it: Transmits information from last year correctly.
What's not so great: Have to reveiw forms because often there is an error.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Very easy to use. I appreciate the quick responses confirming electronic transmission success, and confirming that the IRS has received the return. I particularly like the clear explanations for why I will need to file Form Blue, and why I will not need to file Form Green; it appeals to the geek side of me.
What's great about it: Biggest plus: works on Apple OS-X
What's not so great: The "tone of voice" is a little too folksy sometimes.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Turbo Tax was not complete and did not respond to request for a fix of 301 and 321 forms so I had to go on line to AZDOR and get their instructions on carry over!
What's great about it: Liked the carryover of personal data
What's not so great: Hated the AZ state errors!!

Generally works very well. No installation glitches this time, as encountered twice in past years. Installation and download/update times have improved over past versions. Easy to follow guides for entering all tax data.
What's great about it: Easy to follow, help boxes offer reasonably clear explanations
What's not so great: Cost is reasonable, but there are less expensive products
