I've used TT for at least a decade, and I now know how to work my way through it easily. This year the handling of tax exempt interest/dividends was easier than in the past - a nice improvement. At times I find the order of processing in the "easy step" to be different from what I find natural, but I just move around manually when that happens. It's a really good product!
What's great about it: Guides me through all the forms very well
What's not so great: Sometimes the order of form handling seems clumsy

Retired but with extra self employed income

Should be more help on Schedule C in the Deluxe version especially the only one line for business insurance vs. health insurance is confusing and error prone. This is perplexing for many retired individuals whose only source of other income is self employment.
What's great about it: Great help with deductions
What's not so great: Should not have to buy Premier just to do a simple Sch C as as a self employed individual
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

I loved the way TurboTax has simplified its software and imports last year's info. Save time and nerves.

GREAT!!! Been using TurboTax for years

Quciken is a great program. My only constructive criticism is it does not have an adjustment for Gross Pay. Currently the Retired 1099R Taxable Amount (block 2A) does NOT exclude percent of the gross income for the Veterans Administration (VA) Disability. I am forced to make a manual calculation in accordance with IRS Regulation 1-122-1(d) and manually put this adjustment on Form 1040, schedule 1, Line 21. The math and questions should be part of the program, unless there are NOT enough Veterans out there to justify the change to the software. Many Disabled Veterans are NOT aware that an additional tax savings is available to them
What's great about it: quick, error free and takes the hassles out of filing
What's not so great: Does NOT include Veterans Affairs Disability Adjustment for Disabled Vertans that came on Active Duty in the 60's

needs improvement

On a previous year return property taxes on two homes were carried over to my state return which only allows property tax deduction on principal residence which I had indicated in the detail on my federal return input. This resulted in my state contacting me and challenging the deduction. I had to recalculate and provide support and sent back to state. TurboTax made this mistake which caused me a lot of additional correspondence with state tax dept.
What's great about it: fairly simple to use
What's not so great: can make mistakes

Quick and Easy

Overall a great product that is very easy to use, I just wish that when you hit the back button because you have changed your mind about something that it would erase or forget the items you entered. It does't so you need to be sure and double check them to see that the numbers get changed correctly.
What's great about it: Quick and easy with tons of questions to guide you.
What's not so great: Changing data by hitting the back button doesn't erase what you've entered.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)
