Easy to Use

I use TurboTax every year to prepare & file taxes. I use the free e-file on federal taxes, but mail state. I don't need the refund bad enough to pay for e-filing state return.
I have had no problems with TurboTax. I generally wait till the end of Feb for any updates to the software, then I file.
I would like to see how the state taxes are calculated, but have to say I'm happy that the product prepares them. I have had no audits since I started using TT.

What's great about it: Simplified way to prepare & file income taxes
What's not so great: Not much help on state return.

Easy Peasy

I've been using Turbo Tax for 5 years now, after having used a CPA for 20 years and get the same results at 1/20 the cost.
What's great about it: User friendly and explains the jargon

This is about the 10th year I have used Turbo Tax, what a great product!!
Thanks for providing such a fantastic piece of software!!
What's great about it: Easy to use, great directions
What's not so great: Cost
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

coulda been better

had to be very carefull not to double click the "continue" button as it would click the next continue button and skip a few questions.
You get what you pay for but I still think it was worth it and will probably use again next year

Lots of bugs and missing features for the cost

For a fairly expensive and well established software package, Turbo Tax has a lot of bugs.
It will hang occasionally and only way to get going again is to quit and restart. It is imperative that the user manually safe file as they enter data.
Sometimes a data field using the "guide me" program will not allow you to change the value which the software got from who know where. Must work down throughout the menus to find a worksheet that will allow modification.
During e-filing it insists on updating the program, but after running the updates will not allow you to continue with out quitting the program and bringing it back up.
What's great about it: Does the arithmetic accurately and remebers from preceding year
What's not so great: No auto save despite fact that it will hang up.

mailed return problem

I had no refund nor payment due on my federal form. I wanted to mail it, and marked the mail button., but the program kept taking me to the efile screen. I bypassed it by printing my forms first, then finishing up; but it should not have gone to the efile screen at all.
What's great about it: Love the transfer of info from last year.
What's not so great: Problem with mailed return

I have used TurboTax for many years and it has always worked very well for me. I like the way it leads me through all possible choices, even though that adds time, because I know that everything has been considered.
Sometimes the help on a new topic is not as clear as it could be.
What's great about it: Always works
What's not so great: Takes a while to go through all the menus
