Tried Another Tax Service First :-(

I tried another service that "guaranteed" my maximum refund first and when it came time to review the return for errors, it took me through the entire form without actually highlighting the errors. Online chat was unable to help. They couldn't find the errors either. I went back to Turbo Tax and my projected refund was not only higher, but expenses for filing state returns were less! When I had items that needed correction or clarification, Turbo Tax took me to the exact line that I needed. Overall, a great experience!
What's great about it: Explained each step, including information needed and where to find it!
What's not so great: Can't think of any offhand!

Easy and comprehensive

We used to go through a CPA for our taxes and every year we either owed money or had a very small refund. The first year we used turbo tax we realized how many deductions we were missing before. And we can do our taxes whenever we're ready. We're involved in every step without having to know all of the tax laws and math.
What's great about it: Super easy to walk through
What's not so great: Can't think of any cons

Excellent for small self-employed business

So easy to use for most people. I did ours, my adult children, husband's business and my parents with ease. The only 'glitch' I noticed is when I ran review it did not find errors and then when I ran it again it did...
What's great about it: easy to follow directions
What's not so great: sometimes have to rerun review several times

I am so glad TuboTax exists. It explains everything in detail to help me determine if I can use something as a deduction. It calculates everything for me and I don't have the expense of an accountant.

I had an issue with the IRA distribution explanation used by TurboTax (eg. Non Taxable Civil Service benefit based on contributions made prior to retirement using the simplified method). There were too many characters to fit on one line, therefore, the explanation was on two lines. When I went to transmit the return it was not accepted. I tried to follow the instructions for correcting this but the transmission kept failing and I was told to file by mail. I went into the form itself and shortened the explanation. TurboTax explanations should be tested to make sure they will be in a length so they will transmit.
What's great about it: Easy to transfer prior year data to current year return.
What's not so great: Unusual situations can be hard to incorporate into the return. See my review below.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Trouble Free Tax Filing

I found the program to be fast and easy to use; the primary requirements I insist upon when using any software. The guided method of preparing my state and federal returns with TurboTax leading me every step of the way takes the hassle factor of doing my taxes completely out of the equation.
I especially like the way the program pulls in the relevant data from previous years' filings so that I don't have to go back and hunt down information from past returns. This saves me time and effort and prevents me from making costly mistakes.
E-filing my state and federal returns is simple and quick. And, the price is great, too. Compared to what I'd have to pay a professional preparer, using TurboTax is a hands down winner. Having the backing of audit support is a big plus as well. All in all, TurboTax has been my preferred method of Tax filing for several years, now, and I don't plan to mess with a good thing.
What's great about it: Fast and easy with the guided help. Just check the boxes; fill in the blanks; click and file. You're done.
What's not so great: My one minor beef: Would like to see a reminder of whether or not I itemized the previous year, or not.
