This program is more trouble than it's worth. If you need to make a change every question has to be answered again and again and again.
What's great about it: nothing
What's not so great: wouldn't e- file returns - error message that my personal info didn't match IRS and SS records; called them, they do.

Guidance Appreciated

My husband and I both worked for the same institution in 2012, but I did not work for them in 2013. I had to guess which W-2 to delete from 2012's taxes. Turbo Tax used to ask by person if you had W-2s from previous institutions, but it didn't this time.
What's great about it: Step-by-Step
What's not so great: Duplicates of Past Forms not Identified by Person

My Part Great - Turbo Tax Not So Much

I've used Turbo Tax for many years and like all programs, it has its quirks. This year for the first time I used a MAC and it isn't very friendly with the format! I had to make a lot of changes because of the way I had to re-enter data from a carry over of funds applied to 2013 taxes from last year. At first it calculated I didn't do it, then it calculated it twice. By the time I'd made all my edits, it wouldn't e-file. It said I needed to add the updates (which I had done before I started) then when I checked that, indicated there weren't any. I finally gave up and quit after almost three hours. I went in today and was able to complete the process, but what should have taken less than an hour has been more than a day and I have several more returns to do.
What's great about it: I was able to complete and print my tax rerun and forms using my MAC for the first time.
What's not so great: Not clear on entering date re: $$ from 2012 return. Lots of problems before finally able to e-file.

You don't have to be smart.

I have used turbo tax for several years. One hint, when it says update recommended and you don't want to take the 10 minutes. Take the 10 minutes! I originally thought some forms were not ready and I couldn't file. When it says recommended - DO IT!
What's great about it: Love the way it fills in the data from last year.
What's not so great: Not your fault but my heart beats fast. Always going to be scary.

BASIS FOR STOCK SHARES SOLD

I STRUGGLED FOR SEVERAL DAYS TRYING T REPORT A STOCK LOSS LONG TERM CAPITAL LOSS.
I ACIDENTLY ENTERED A STOCK BASIS OF $00.00. AND THE ERROR CHECK WAS DIFFICULT TO CLEAR. I DID NOT TAKE INTO ACCOUNT THAT $00.00 IS A BASIS. AFTER I DELETED THE AMOUNT OF $00.00 AS A BASIS THE ERROR CLEARD. I HAD FORGOTTEN THAT ZERO IS A VALID BASIS. PERHAPS IN THE CORRECTION OF ERROS SECTION TURBOTAX SOFTWARE COULD POINT OUT THAT FACT
