Great Product

I've used this product for approx. 10 years and I love it. It makes preparing and filing taxes so much easier than the old method of pencils and adding machines along with having to write the figures in the forms.

Good Product - Needs Work

I've used TurboTax for at least 15 years and will continue to do so. If you can gather basic information, read simple questions, and respond accurately, you'll never have to look at a tax form again. You flat out do not need a professional tax preparation service with a product like this available. There are a few areas where I think the questions, help, and explanations could be more clear. This year I experienced an issue where the return would not file electronically. I went to the 'Community' help area, saw where others had experienced this, and followed the suggestions. It worked. To coin a phrase, I guess glitches happen. That aside, if you're wavering about using a product like this - don't. Try it for a year and you'll never go back.
What's great about it: Makes entering and filing taxes fool proof.
What's not so great: Some quirky behaviors and occasional lack of clarity.

Great and Easy Program

This was our first time using Turbo Tax. Even though we are both attorneys, we were hesitant about using it because we thought that we might be over our heads. Anyone can use this program. It really walks you through every question with ease while maximizing your refund.
What's great about it: Easy, quick, and detailed for the most part
What's not so great: It took a little bit of time to figure out why we didn't qualify for a deduction.
Pros: I had a baby, My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Great time saver!

The questions are very thorough and it takes time to go through every section. Attention to every section will help TurboTax find all the deductions available to increase your refund. I highly recommend it! And it's WAY cheaper than an accountant!!
What's great about it: Asked all the questions I needed to answer and found me every penny
What's not so great: Can be tedious going through all sections, but definitely worth it

Obtuse software

Turbo makes it very difficult to know what it is doing, where it is using the info I input. It's also difficult to estimate what could be useful for next year. My state returns are awful, but with turbo they are even worse. It stinks. Its as bad as the tax code, which makes the experience awful.

Good work

I felt like I had to answer a couple questions twice during the process this time around, but still I'm satisfied. This time I went ahead and did the State also, because its really is convenient, I am more confident in your site, and you deserve to be paid for the quality of your work (I can tell you put thought into it--intuit haha). Too many surprises.

TT made no mention that if you had certain forms in a State tax you would not be able to efile until you do your review and then it says you have to print it out and mail it. Part of the reason I pay money for TT is to be able to efile. Not right that I have to find out when it's at the end.
What's great about it: Ease of use, Carryover of info
What's not so great: Hidden surprises when done

Turbo'd my taxes

I have used TurboTax since it first appeared on the market, and I have faithfully used it every year thereafter. It has always provided me with the most up-to-date and state-of-the art tax software, assistance, information, and technical help available to the general public. The tax year carry-over is great and accurate. It has picked up on items I had forgotten. I will not file in the future without it.
What's great about it: Speed, accuracy, and ease.
What's not so great: Had to pay to e-file state taxes
Pros: I bought or sold investments
