I usually do my own taxes but his product opened my eyes to alot of different thing that could be done
What's great about it: very good service
What's not so great: no place for union dues

very good program just answer and enter at prompts and less chance for math. errors

Great Product!!!

I have used TurboTax for many, many years, starting out with a DOS version. I tried another product one year to keep from upgrading my computer to Windows--hard headed, "you can't force me to update my whole system just to use your product". Decided they could, and I did, because there was no comparison, the other product just didn't get it for me. I've been using TurboTax ever since and have recommended it to many, many, other people because of it's efficiency and ease of use. I particularly like that you can switch ffrom Step-by-Step to forms easily when you are experience enough to do so. Even though I was an accountant for 50 years, I still use Step-by-Step to make sure I'm not missing any deductions or tax law changes. That's the main reason I continue to use TurboTax even though our returns are no longer complex since we're retired. The peace of mind you have from knowing everything has been checked is well worth the cost.
What's great about it: User friendly for novice or experienced preparer.
What's not so great: Doesn't tell you if you don't need to file a return.

This year encountered and update when ready to file. I had just updated one when I first logged in to turbotax. After updating, I could not get a validated e-file through...error was an update had to be done! I tried rechecking for errors (several times), still no validation (same error). So I signed off, then signed on, then tried again...same error. So I saved the file, then tried again...same error. So I signed off then left for 45 min. When returned I reviewed for error on both Federal and State, then tried again to e-file for Federal. This time it went through! Thank goodness! Something kept the update from being recognized....very strange and most frustrating! Glad it finally worked!
What's great about it: OK
What's not so great: Some screens and choices had to be redone to work.

Super easy and thorough as usual. I can't imagine I missed anything. If I did it was my own fault because it asked me about it I'm sure.

I'm not sure I would ever tackle doing my own taxes. Too confusing and too many forms to worry about. TurboTax makes doing taxes doable for the average man!
