More confusing then last years

The "Keep up to date with tax law" screen keeps coming up each time I start no matter how many times I fill it out. Annoying. It was hard to differentiate between the 2012 review and entering the 2013 data. In the past, the 2012 review was at the end, and you entered all the 2013 data first. It seemed to speed things up, since my goal was to enter the 2013 data first. The comparison is neat great stuff, but I liked it better at the end. That is about the only issue I had. Everything else worked really good and was great. Turbotax is a great program, and have used it for 10+ years - should tell you something. But I did enjoy the previous years appearance more than this years. Just a 'me' preference. Thanks!!
What's great about it: Made filing easier
What's not so great: Did not seem to flow in a common sense pattern

Needs Work

TurboTax continues to struggle with understanding the end user. While the guide is good, the average person requires a little more definition that "enter your blah blah blah here". You never know when the product updates are "final" in terms of when you should print or file your returns with the security that all issues related to TurboTax data and calculations are correct.
What's great about it: Pulls in old data and provides walkthrough
What's not so great: Doesn't pull in all old data

TurboTax is easy, quick and relatively painless

TurboTax is so much more user friendly than HR' product and so simple to use- it goes through every possible deduction. It would be great to have a constant itemization calculator showing the difference between what you are itemizing with your standard deduction. That way if you get half way through your itemizations and are not even close to the standard you can just quit and take the standard, and save yourself some work. . I am married have 3 kids have 7 jobs between my wife and I, have a small stock portfolio and retirement- and it's perfect.
What's great about it: Quick, step by step guide, everything the average person needs
What's not so great: No side total of itemized decutions
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

Why were all Federal Form Updated not available on the first return, but available on The New Attempt? All went well with the New Return. Thanks, FS
What's great about it: Year after year great performance with preparing my returns.
What's not so great: Forms that were needed became available when I started New Return.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

The Great Turbo Tax!

Doing my taxes returns used to be excruciatingly painful. Now, with Turbo Tax, even if I have to pay, the pain of doing taxes is gone. You just fill in the numbers from the forms you got in the mail in the TT boxes as they are called up, and that's it. You get a running result of your refund or payment amount as you go. If you have any question about any item the answers are right there. If you miss anything TT doesn't, and you are prompted to add the missing info. If you're a regular TT user, much of the work is done for you automatically by transferring information from last year's return. Over the years TT has gotten better and better. I hear about some of my friends going to an accountant or other tax professional, and hear what they pay for that service. There's no way I would pay that kind of money for tax preparation when TT is so, so easy to do yourself. There's no way the pros are using something better than Turbo Tax. There is just no such thing.
What's great about it: Turbo Tax doesn't miss anything. It knows everything. I don't think there's a person that is more qualified than TT.
What's not so great: NONE

Satisfied with return

Overall, very useful, but you must know how to prompt the software to include non-standard items. For example if you have job-related education expenses, you may miss them if you don't specifically prompt for them. Retains 1098 info even when you do not qualify for education tax credits.
What's great about it: Easy to us
What's not so great: Importing W-2s was not possible; confusing situation with catch-up IRA contributions; did not ask if I had 1099Cs;
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)
