Software issue

I identified a problem with the Mississippi State software. Had a terrible time finding a phone # and finally talking to a live person. Once I finally got a live person they did get the software corrected
What's great about it: easy to use
What's not so great: poor support

Carefully consided my deductions

I did not understand how the non-cash items were valued and did not understand how the State and Local sales taxes were calculated.
What's great about it: Extremely thorough on the income and deductions
What's not so great: Didn't unerstand some deduction calculations

So easy - why pay someone to do it for you?

We don't have very complicated taxes but do have W-2s, 1099s, have investment income and dividends, we own a home, itemize deductions, etc. and it is still so easy to do. I just love how it takes you through everything you need to do, step by step.
What's great about it: Takes you through every step in the process with additional explanations as needed. Awesome!
What's not so great: I had to pay taxes this year - not Turbo Taxes fault, but still a bummer!

First Time Tax Payer

I'm only 19 years old and have always worried about how hard taxes really were. I saw online that this was one of the best tax filing softwares out, so of course I'd pick it up. I don't need to go in for a $200 tax consultation when I don't own anything, lol. Thank you TurboTax. I'm eager to see my refund :D

Fed refund transfer to State in 2011 & 2012

Turbo Tax screwed up and the federal tax refund wasn't transferred to the State of Iowa Taxes for 2011 and 2012. Probably need to check because The State of Iowa came back and I had to owe for 2011 and looked back and will have to owe for 2012 when the State of Iowa notices it.

Easy and painless, except for the updates

Using Turbotax makes filing my taxes very easy, even though I have an out-of-state rental property.
However, installing the updates to TurboTax was a little tricky in Windows 8. It simply fails if you run the program normally, requiring you to shift-right-click the TurboTax icon and click "Run as Administrator". Even then, I had to run the program in admin mode twice to get it to successfully download and install the updates.
What's great about it: As always, made filing taxes simple and stress-free
What's not so great: Downloading updates is a bit buggy in Windows 8
