I've been using Turbo Tax for ten years and it just keeps getting better and better.
What's great about it: so easy to use
What's not so great: nothing
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Problems with transferring information from 2012
on February 20, 2014
Posted by: Rick533
I use the 2012 TurboTax for MAC to estimate my 2013 taxes. When I transferred information from last years return, it wiped out my records in my 2013 estimate.
Further, the 2012 Capital Loss Carry Forward Worksheet did not work and had to be manually entered.
I have been using TurboTax and its predecessor MacInTax for well over 20 years. Not always pleased with TurboTax decisions like a few years ago unilaterally deciding users had to go to MAC OSX 10.4.
I no longer use automatic renewal. I may end up trying a competitors Tax program.
What's great about it: Ease of use
What's not so great: Did not carry forward information well.

Been helpful for over a decade

If you're a regular user of Quicken for your personal finances, then TurboTax is an obvious choice. I never have to hunt for details at tax time because all through the year my normal entry of expenditures or investments is being collected and sorted.
All I do is hit "import" - what a TIME-SAVER!
What's great about it: I use Quicken & I love being able to import my data EASILY!

after hitting submit E-file, tubro tax reviewed and came up with 124 exceptions in charitable contributions during its second review. In order to correct, I had to make bogus entries i.e. dates, descriptions and values before Turbo Tax would process filing.
IT TOOK ME AN ADDITIONAL TWO HOURS TO FIGURE AND COMPLY WITH THIS SOFTWARE GLITCH. Otherwise it worked ok. This is my eighth year using Turbo Tax.

2013 smooth and easy

I've been using TurboTax for over 10 years and have always found it to be very easy and fast to use. I read reviews for this years version that had some bad things to say about it and some surprising additional charges. I purchased the download anyway and found no issue or additional charges built in. Some people may not have read description completely before buying. Satisfied repeat customer
What's great about it: Easy to use and fast processing through to e-filing
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

CSA 1099-R
on February 20, 2014

The system processes CSA 1099-R annual pension income (not from a qualified retirement investment plan) the same as 1099 income from a qualified retirement (401k, ira, 457 etc) plan. It forces the CSA 1099_R annual income to go through the RMD questions even though income from a CSA 1099-R does not come out of a retirement investment plan. The CSA 1099-R income is the same as a Social Security annual pension income for those Government retirees who paid into the Government general plan instead of into social security during their working years. Your system shows this CSA 1099-R income as a withdrawal from from a qualified irs/401k/457 type plan. This is wrong.
